Chasing Pavements by Adele
It's quite shit lyrically but it sounds quite nice.
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.

Believe nothing on the faith of traditions, even though they have been held in honor for many generations and in diverse places. Do not believe a thing because many people speak of it. Do not believe on the faith of the sages of the past. Do not believe what you yourself have imagined, persuading yourself that a God inspires you. Believe nothing on the sole authority of your masters and priests. After examination, believe what you yourself have tested and found to be reasonable, and conform your conduct thereto.

Whenever politicians choose to issue a "heartfelt confession" or "come clean" about something a cynical public is, if truth be told, already half expecting details of a wronged wife, a hint of prostitution, a dalliance with the drug scene or perhaps some good old fashioned financial fiddling.
What you generally don't expect is for a politician, in this case former Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott, to admit to suffering from bulimia. Prescott claims that the stress of the job drove him to gorge on food.
Prescott's epic battle against bulimia was only surpassed by his fight to extricate himself from this chair
Now, i'm not seeking to make light of this eating disorder or, indeed, any eating disorder. In fact some of my best friends are fat bastards. However, so far as i understand once the gorging has taken place the guilt then drives the sufferer to "purge", some say spew one's guts up in the shitter. Now, looking at Mr Prescott i can't help thinking that he concentrated a little too much on the former and not quite enough on the latter.
So spare a thought for poor Mr Prescott, a sufferer of bulimia and definitely not a fat greedy bastard with a predilection for stuffing his fat face with free food on the taxpayers slate. Remember, not greedy just diseased.

Every so often a government department decides that the pervading public image of their department as being full of dull tedious people with a penchant for grey suits, sensible haircuts and extraordinary incompetence could be transformed through the adoption of a brand new logo.
So the Office of Government Commerce, or OGC as the hipster kids say, thought this one would be a good idea.
What they didn't realise, until after they had printed it onto pens, mouse-mats and other frequently stolen office equipment, is that if you rotate it 90 degrees you get this.

I wouldn't like to specify but having spent many a year on political message boards, i can recognise a wanker when i see one.
Somewhat disturbingly i have spent the last half hour pondering whether a typical masturbating snowman would be capable of ejaculating or would his seed remain frozen - imprisoned in the confines of his icy testicles.
I fear i have already said too much.
That’s a great idea! I found out that supposedly, because my grandfather was born in Ireland (he spent much of his life there, and came here to flee…it was never exactly clear what) I can emigrate to Ireland and get a EU workers card. Maybe then I could finally get into France. I have to check into that to make sure it’s the case.
If your grandfather qualifies you for Irish citizenship then you'd be able to live and work wherever you liked within the EU and (depending on the State involved) bring along any dependants and/or partner.
Even if you don't qualify for citizenship/dual nationality there'd probably be little problem with wangling a work permit for most EU countries. Most of the high-fliers from France are living in London nowadays so they're probably crying out for Americans, foreigners or, in fact, anyone not from Paris, to be snooty to.
Did you see that Bridgette Bardot is on trial for saying controversial things about Muslims?
You can actually go to jail in France for that. I can't believe it, she didn't even incite a riot, nobody burned a car over her statements or anything....
