A demented South Carolina mother killed her 4-day-old son by putting him in the refrigerator for three hours, authorities say.

Angela Blackwell, 27, was at her home on February 27 when she put little William in the fridge and shut the door, deputies say. After three hours, she took him out and sought medical attention.

William David Blackwell died from hypothermia with asphyxiation from being placed in the cold, according to Chester County Coroner Terry Tinker.

A Coon Rapids man is now charged with the murder, sexual assault and kidnapping of a 5-year-old girl who was the daughter of a friend and co-worker.

Zachary Todd Anderson, 25, made his first appearance just before noon Tuesday in a Cass County Courtroom. The criminal complaint filed against the defendant details how the body of 5-year-old Alayna Ertl was discovered in a swamp near Anderson's family cabin.

An autopsy showed the child died of homicidal violence, with evidence of strangulation and blunt force trauma to her head. It was also apparent that the child had been sexually assaulted, with signs of penetration.

Authorities in Southern California searched Tuesday for a man and a woman suspected of killing a woman, kidnapping her three small children and leaving the state.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement that warrants have been issued for Joshua Robertson, 27, and Brittany Humphrey, 22.

Robertson and Humphrey are suspected of killing Kimberly Harvill, whose body was discovered Sunday in brush along a remote road in northern Los Angeles County in the unincorporated Lebec area near Interstate 5.

Authorities believe the pair also kidnapped Harvill’s three children, 2-year-old Joslynn Watkins, 3-year-old Brayden Watkins and 5-year-old Rylee Watkins.

Police said the couple is expected to be driving the victim’s 1999 green Ford Explorer SUV, which has California plates 7BEK024 that may have been swapped for temporary plates, stick-figure stickers of a family and a sticker that reads “R.I.P. Chad Watkins.”

Robertson has a criminal history that includes a conviction on illegal weapons charges.

A rural Colorado sheriff is facing sexual assault and misconduct allegations.

Sedgwick County Sheriff Tom Hanna was arrested at his office on suspicion of first-degree official misconduct, sexual assault on an at risk person, sexual assault by a correctional officer and solicitation of prostitution.

A former NASA space shuttle commander has been indicted by a grand jury in the deaths of two girls.

James Halsell Jr. was indicted on two counts each of reckless murder and assault, according to prosecutor Jonathan Cross.

Halsell, who turns 60 on Friday, was busted after he killed Niomi James, 11, and 13-year-old Jayla Parler.

The reckless murder charges involve the girls' deaths, and the assault charges stem from injuries suffered by the girls' father, Pernell James.

Toby Willis was charged Friday with child rape after a relative accused the reality star of sexual assault.

The court documents reveal Willis has been ordered to stay away from his children and wife.

Willis’ wife Brenda released a statement Wednesday following her husband’s arrest.

"I was shocked and devastated by the revelation of events leading to Toby Willis’ arrest," Brenda Willis' attorney said in a statement on her behalf. "As these are very trying times for the Willis family, I kindly ask all to respect our family’s privacy. As a mother of twelve, my first priority remains with my children and helping them through this traumatic event.

"We are cancelling all appearances for the foreseeable future to focus on the children and their well-being. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We have, and will continue, to fully cooperate with law enforcement officials and ask that you direct all inquiries regarding Toby Willis’ case to the District Attorney’s office who have our complete support."

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation charged the 46-year-old with one count of child rape after an investigation revealed a sexual encounter he allegedly had with a child.

He was arrested in Greenville, Kentucky where he had traveled to avoid arrest. He appeared in court on Monday without an attorney and did not oppose extradition. This means that the state of Tennessee has 60 days to bring him back to their state to face charges. Willis will be given an opportunity to enter a plea when he is formally charged in Tennessee.

"The Willis Family" premiered last year on TLC and follows Willis, his wife Brenda and their 12 children whose names all start with the letter "J." The family of entertainers first became known when they reached the quarterfinals on season 9 of "America's Got Talent" in 2014.

Before their TLC show, they had a reality show on GAC called "The Willis Clan."

The Burchs called the police and then confronted the father, telling him to stop, to which he responded “I grew up just fine” and that the couple should mind their own business.

Once a police sergeant arrived on the scene he said the father “has the right to discipline his children.”

A 45-year-old North Carolina woman and her 25-year-old son have been arrested for having sex with each other, police said.

Melissa Nell Kitchens allegedly had sex with Shaun Thomas Pfeiffer sometime last month, according to a Buncombe County police spokeswoman.

The mother and son, both of Asheville, face felony incest charges — which could land them in jail for up to three years.

Pfeiffer was being held on $70,500 bail, according to the Buncombe Sheriff's office. In addition to incest charges, he's facing charges of indecent liberties with a child and is expected in court on Sept. 30.

A 17-year-old girl is missing and believed to be in danger after police found three bodies at the home where she lived in Southern California.

Police rushed to a house in Fullerton on Saturday after a child called dispatchers and said her parents had died, authorities said.

When they arrived, they found two men and one woman dead at the home, the Fullerton Police Department said in a statement. They also found two children, who were unharmed.

Authorities determined that a third minor, Katlynn Goodwill Yost, 17, lived at the home, but was nowhere to be found.

Police did not release any information on how they are related, but a neighbor told the Orange County Register that the couple who lived there had three children -- a teen and two others between ages 7 and 9.

Preliminary information indicates it's a multiple homicide, according to authorities.
