While researchers have long shown that tall people earn more than their shorter counterparts, it's not only social discrimination that accounts for this inequality -- tall people are just smarter than their height-challenged peers, a new study finds.

"As early as age three -- before schooling has had a chance to play a role -- and throughout childhood, taller children perform significantly better on cognitive tests," wrote Anne Case and Christina Paxson of Princeton University in a paper published by the National Bureau of Economic Research.

Statistical correlation does not prove causality.

I'm sure that on average, japanese are shorter than americans, but have proven to be just as industrious and intelligent.

I find the assertion credible that tall people have certain advantages in terms of social interactions and societal biases which can contribute to their success.

As the article states it also has to do with prenatal and early childhood nutrition.

the better cared for at these points will grow taller due to nutrition.

So the slight correlation could be simply that factor which Im inclined to think is the truth.

I didn't realize I was retarded, being a man less than 6'... I guess I'll go hide now.

Why didn't you all tell me?!!!
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.
    - -- Aristotle

Believe nothing on the faith of traditions, even though they have been held in honor for many generations and in diverse places. Do not believe a thing because many people speak of it. Do not believe on the faith of the sages of the past. Do not believe what you yourself have imagined, persuading yourself that a God inspires you. Believe nothing on the sole authority of your masters and priests. After examination, believe what you yourself have tested and found to be reasonable, and conform your conduct thereto.
    - -- The Buddha

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.
