Cardinal Dolan is not happy and he has been tap dancing for his wealthy donors. He has cathedrals to maintain, and his donors did not like the Pope's message. They need assurance that they are not like the rich of Argentina, they give more money to the church, to charity, as if that was the Pope's message!

The Pope needs to stay out of matters of State and concentrate on Ecclesiastical matters.

All of you who call for a separation of Church and State should be saying the same thing... The Church has no say in matters of Government.

The Pope's statements go against the very grain of the Constitution.

He isn't a citizen of the United States. His words are for the members of the Roman Catholic Church. His words have no bearing on our politics.

Yes.. he is a citizen of the Socialist nation of Argentina...I know.

But he is trying to influence internal politics in this country and as that goes against the grain of our founding fathers he should stick to matters of faith.

Do you want the Pope telling Washington DC what to do?

Worked out for Henry VIII... The Anglican Church sprung from Papal Rulings against the King and the Anglican church made the State Religion.

You want Rome to repeat history again Rana?

again, his state was to his flock, the members of The Catholic Church, his statement wasn't to Congress.

Now, some members of Congress are Catholic and they must refrain from establishing their religion.

The Pope's statement is only to the Church.

Surely you jest. The Pope is speaking from the perspective of Catholic social justice, not American politics.

    Thanks for some sane rationality!

And yet what he says needs to be thoughtfully considered by all American citizens.

You guys love it when Popes speak out against abortion, gay marriage, homosexuals etc. But you're going to criticize him for bringing up the rest of the Catholic church agenda, i.e. human dignity, charity and the common good. You're inconsistent.

As long as they are getting government hand outs then they are definitely engaged with the government and the separation of Church and State has already been breached!

The pope never challenged the Constitution and the big brains know that the new pope hold the true bibles beliefs which have nothing to do with State. And the STATE was formed from Christianity so Christians would have a place to hide after being a target else where. All we had to do to discover America is kill the Indians.
