A recent study by the National Academy of Science shows that conservatives are hostile towards the environment.
In the study when Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL's) were packaged in "Energy Efficient" packaging and sold along side incandescent lamps those who were politically conservative were equally likely to buy the CFL but when the packaging was changed to say "Protect the Environment" they were far more likely not to buy the CFL's.
So why are conservatives hostile towards protecting human health and the environment?

That's really not a good example is it? LED bulbs are far more efficient and getting much cheaper. They also do not contain toxic mercury, which doesn't really help the so called environmental credentials of CFLs.

Personally I want clean water and air...call me selfish....
I expect, if you put a price tag that says $1.99 next to a price tag that says $5.99, conservatives are more likely to choose the one that says $1.99........

I found it eventually, obviously the way to sell them is to claim that they are dirty and toxic instead.

Why do Liberals construct dishonest strawman arguments to impugn Conservatives?
Why do liberals engage in dishonest partisan rhetoric in a vacuum of reality, the truth or the facts?
Why are liberals so dishonest?
I'm about as Conservative as they come; I love the environment and promote conservation. I recently converted my entire house at great cost to LED.
Your study is not merely flawed; it is fodder for gullible fools.

This may sound like a bullshit response, but I think I have some reasons why conservatives are put off by it
1) Many of them are religious. Hardcore religious. If you look at the polls, nearly 30% of our nation literally believes in creationism. There are millions of republicans/conservatives that believe that it's god that is going to end the world, and the earth is sticking around until that happens. Additionally, many of them are looking forward to the rapture and the more fucked up earth gets, the better for them.
2) They view it as another way for the government to control their lives. One of the major things they will think of is more R E G U L A T I O N S on businesses, etc. Or things like the kyoto protocol
3) Some of it is guilt by association. Back in the old days, the people talking about mother earth were those stupid smelly hippies, obviously liberals. There is obviously also an anti-elite streak in todays conservatives, and they don't like being told what's what by scientists and professors. There is a natural distrust against those types.

why do liberals insist on proving they don't know how to think for themselves......all they do is parrot ridiculous arguments they've heard from other liberals and they think somewhere, someone must have found them compelling....
