I am now declaring my true colors, I am a Moderate, and I have always been a Moderate, regardless of my postings. I am still very pro gun though, and to me, that is a huge issue. I am also "Pro Choice", because why should the Rich women be the only ones to get a medical assisted abortion, like Marylyn Monroe did, while poor women would end up going into a coat hanger alley, not right. I believe in helping the homeless on the streets, think about it, if they were crooks, they would not be homeless, now would they? When I see someone with a "Please Help Me" sign, I try to give them some money. There should not be any homeless in this rich USA. I want the next President to have an all out war to defeat Cancer, and whoever declares that will get my vote, either Democrat or Republican. I am changing my Avatar later.

And the world doesn't care.

Every family that I know has been affected by Cancer, The US Government could coordinate a World War on Cancer using all this great Computer Technology, so that no two "Teams" are doing the same exact research. They cured Small Pox and Polio, and they can cure Cancer with a Team Effort, regardless of profits or Medicine patents. Everyone wants to cure Cancer, they just need to be organized and if that means the US Government doing it, then so be it.

First of all the gobblement did not cure polio or small pox. Secondly that is hardly the same thing as cancer.
Thirdly you don't know what you are talking about. You speak of cancer as if it is some heterogenous disease that can be approached the same way. It is not. Many cancers have high cure rates. Some not so much. It has as much to do with early detection and the age and comorbidities of the patient as it does anything else. Billions has been spent on cancer research. To act like it has been an unaddressed disease is to be misinformed on a massive scale.
The last thing we need is politics to get involved with medical research anymore than it already is.
In an effort to help cure you if your massive ignorance, google NIH
Idiot

We have to cure Cancer, and maybe the researchers today want to make billions of dollars, when cancer research should be a labor of love, not so much for profit, because the researcher's own families will ALL be affected by Cancer and then their Money will not help them save their love ones. Let's do this.

I think government funding has been instrumental in treating and finding cures for many diseases. But let's not let facts get in the way of hatred.
And the profit-driven motive hasn't cured cancer yet...

you really can't compare health issues to poverty issues.
Polio - govt did pretty darn good on that one.
SARS - govt kept it from spreading here; no one in the US died from it.
Govt R&D is a big part of research into solving health issues. Yes, private companies also are a part of it. But we need both.

Politics should not cloud reasoning, it takes a huge amount of money and technology to find a cure for cancer and it will be cured eventually, but why wait for some money bound people to do it? I am talking about a World effort, maybe China or Germany should lead it, but someone has to. Way back, I actually emailed Obama, Romney, who I still like, and McCain with this idea about declaring themselves as the Cancer Fighting Presidential Candidate and that was that because they probably feel like you do? Follow the money is what my close relative used to say to me, just follow the money, and that relative died of Prostrate Cancer. Money should not enter into this equation, you have close relatives with cancer, don't you, why not go for it? Why are you against going for it, Conservatives never win Texas Holdem Tournaments, no guts, no glory? I know you believe in free enterprise and so do I, but free enterprise is not big enough to pull this off and we do not have time and no, I do not have Cancer, so my motives are from the heart, because I have personally seen close relatives die of Cancer, too many, no more.
I am not saying that Government should do any of the research, they just need to use their monetary resources and huge technology advantages to coordinate the researchers. I would be willing to pay an extra Tax to get this going, cheap in the long run. Naturally the Rich would pay more Cancer Research Taxes, because if they croaked from Cancer, they would lose more yenom(Money) than some poor dude.
