Default Their Sons Don't Go To War....But

They seem to think violence is just fine. I'm really learning to dislike the Mormon religion.

Mormon Church 'owns unregulated gun sale website'

One of the most active and unregulated gun sale websites in America is owned by the Mormon Church, an investigation by New York's Mayor Michael Bloomberg has revealed.

KSL.com was criticised by the Mayor's office for running classified adverts which allow individuals to buy and sell handguns and other firearms without proper background checks and no questions asked.

The site is owned by Deseret Media, the for-profit arm of the Church of the Latter Day Saints – also known as the Mormons – which has come to prominence recently as a result of the presidential run of member Mitt Romney.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg is a lead campaigner for the regulation of firearms which cause carnage on the streets of New York and across the country, recording an advert aired during Sunday's Super Bowl calling for greater gun control.

A source who worked on his investigation into online gun sales said: "One would think that a church would feel a special obligation to make sure that they weren't fuelling a black market for a particularly deadly form of commerce."

The KSL classifieds site currently has adverts for nearly 6,000 products under its firearms and hunting section, including more than 1,000 hand guns. Powerful Glocks, Smith & Wessons and Sigs are all on offer.

The Bloomberg report criticises the site for allowing buyers and sellers to trade privately, without having to identify themselves.
This allows unscrupulous buyers who do not want their purchases recorded and tracked to buy a firearm without it being traced back to them or having to submit to a background check.

Mormon Church 'owns unregulated gun sale website' Brett Atkinson, general manager of KSL.com, said that the site included links to a statement which advised those using the site to abide by federal and local gun laws, and provided "suggestions" for safe sales, such as refusing to sell to minors.

"The responsibility for the transaction is that of the parties involved," Mr Atkinson added. "This is just like any other transaction, a vehicle, a lawnmower, a bicycle."

The study by the New York mayor showed that 40 per cent of gun sales were made through private vendors rather than reputable dealers. Of these private sellers, 62 per cent carried out no background checks on those they sold to.

Stupid, paranoid, and armed is a bad combination.

Christianity: Sending telepathic messages to a Jewish ghost letting him know that you will accept him as your master and ask him to remove a magical curse that was passed down to you because an old woman that was made from the rib of her partner ate a piece of magical fruit from a magical tree because a talking snake told her to.

Ask me again why I'm an atheist?

You mean the Mormons engage in the selling of private property between individuals? What sort cult activity is that?

    Go to the website.

It is a local news and information website in Salt Lake City, Utah.

What is being criticized is the website's classified section, which virtually all local news and information sites now have, which allows advertisements from private gun owners selling firearms. There is no obligation of http://www.ksl.com/ to do ID and background checks, other than the normal checks for running classified advertisements. In other words, this is much ado about nothing, per usual.

The seller typically, though there is no requirement to do so. However it is done typically as private sales are a good way to get burned.

The OP really has nothing to do with private sales of firearms. It's an attempt, through several leaps of logic, to throw shit at Mitt Romney. It's about on par with me calling Obama a mobster, because he is from Chicago, and we all know that is the home of the Mafioso, and since Obama held political power there, he must be tied to the mob as well. There is no factual connection between Obama and the mob, but it can be pieced together using a string of connecting circumstances. That's what is happening here, in case you hadn't caught it.

Personal sales of firearms take place within the classified ad section of an online local news and information site, which is owned by a subsidiary of the Mormon church, therefore, Romney approves of people buying weapons without ID checks and whatnot. Yes... this is how despicably low and desperate they have become. It's on the verge of becoming completely unhinged mentally.

Would you see a Catholic magazine advertising lethal weapons in their small ads? Oh and Deseret is not just a subsidiary it is the Mormon Church, the clue is in the name.

The website didn't advertise lethal weapons, they provided a classified section for private parties to post ads.

And NO, "Deseret" doesn't mean "The Mormon Church." As the OP states, it is a "for-profit" business operated by the Church. I don't know if Catholics have any businesses the church operates. This particular business is a local news and information website, like thousands all across America, no different. It's not a Mormon Illegal Firearms Distribution Site, as the liberals would like to play it up to be. They provide news, weather, sports, and classifieds. In their classifieds, is a category to list hunting/sports equipment, including firearms. These are private-party classified ads the website has no responsibility or liability for. Just like THOUSANDS of similar local news websites across America.

This one is a big deal because it is Salt Lake City, Utah and owned by the Mormons.... like most everything in Utah, btw.

They could easily say that they won't take ads for weapons, couldn't they? Ebay has no problem banning certain items so what's the difference? Oh and Deseret is an integral part of the Mormon Church because it doesn't distinguish between commercial and religious, it's all God's work.

    LOL

Talk about a stretch, an online news site that has a classified section for guns is now responsible for supplying guns to Obama supporters to commit crimes.

Since Ebay stopped gun auctions, hundreds of niche sites opened up.

The morman church does not allow outsiders to know everything about their religion.

That in its self make them not good to me.

If you have to keep things about your religion secret it means there is somthing wrong with your doctrine

That KSL didn't want to do something like that? Maybe because KSL isn't affiliated PayPal a massive anti rights company?
