    Default Go see your Imam

I hear the French appear to have arrived at a very simple and probably effective way of handling protests by the loony fringe of Islam.
Go and tell your Imam. We will then discuss with him. If you riot you will be breaking the law and will be dispersed by whatever means necessary.
For a while public buildings will be guarded and fortified, but in time the loonies will either comply or spend their hols in French prisons.

Now, here's what should happen next.
All non muslim governments should warn the rioting loonies that they will be breaking the law if they use violence on the streets (National emergency).
Then every newspaper and magazine in Europe, America and Australasia should publish the cartoons depicting Mohammed, Jesus, Moses and whoever else they wish to lampoon.
Imams would be informed of this and held responsible for the behaviour of their peace-loving flock.

    Just an idea.

Respect a believers right to believe, but they should damn well repect our right to challenge such utterly illogical notions.

Yes, because the heads of the religion are totally likely to calm down their people when that religion is insulted.

Oh and you can't hold them accountable for talking, more of that free speech bit.

No. It holds them accountable under the law. If they incite they can be arrested and possibly gaoled. Rioters will then be treated like any other rioter, disturber of the peace or whatever (just as we did in London last year).
By this the one thing that motivates them will be taken away. The police will see no Islam on the streets, they will see criminals and rioters.
With the local Imam(s) banged up or deported that will make way for peaceful adherents to the religion. Just keep on gaoling the Imams til they learn.
At the same time Islam must be treated like any other religion, either a blanket ban on all or a fair and equal tolerance of all and if a Moslem wants to draw a cartoon of the archbish of Canterbury or the Pope that'll be fine 'cos all religious leaders ore of equal standing.
Let every newspaper, magazine, news website in the world publish an equal number of insulting cartoons at least one per week.
