US suspends training of Afg Local Police
KABUL, Afghanistan -- United States military officials have suspended the training of Afghan Local Police (ALP) in the wake of a deadly series of so-called ‘green on blue’ attacks by Afghan soldiers and police on their international allies.

Forty-five allied troops have been killed in 34 ‘insider’ attacks this year alone. The Afghan army is implicated in 19 of those attacks, but their training will not be halted.

In a statement late Saturday, Col. Thomas Collins, US Forces Afghanistan spokesperson, said the training has been put on hold in order to carry out intensified vetting procedures on new recruits, and 16,000 existing ALP recruits will be re-vetted.

ALP training is a U.S. mission, carried out by Special Forces. Training of uniformed police and army personnel is done under the banner of the NATO operation

how in the hell are the US going to "vet" 16,000 already AFL?
Just another Obama war, more useless deaths, trying to nationbuild a country that isn't a country at all, but tribal lines on a map.

This is going nowhere, yet Obama "clings" to this fantasy of a "strategic partnership" with Afg. Paki hs already told us to fuck off, another drone attack yesterday on a house with "suspected militiants". we keep bribing them, they keep sheltering the Taliban, and move closer to China and away from the Death From Above "USA

Pro-government militia kills 8 civilians, after mistakenly blaming them for a Taliban attack that killed one of their members. In addition to the 8 deaths, from 3 to 8 people were injured, depending on accounts. The incident took place near Kunduz. Authorities are seeking the commander, known as Qadeer.

U.S. suspends training of Afghan Local Police, will "re-vet" 16,000 current members of the force, in response to recent attacks on ISAF forces. Although the Afghan army is implicated in 19 of 34 such attacks this year, their training will continue.

ISAF says the double suicide attack in Wardak on Saturday was the work of the Haqqani network.

Taliban deny responsibility for the beheading of a 12 year old boy in Kandahar province last week, apparently intended as a warning to his brother who was collaborating with the police.

NATO soldier dies in a non-combat related incident. As usual, no further information as of now.

ISAF arrests a member of the Afghan National Police who killed two NATO troops in May. He was apparently trying to join the army at the time of his arrest. He is said to have been a Taliban infiltrator.

So why are we still there?

This amounts to yet another total failure by Obama.
AMERICAN HISTORY ITSELF IS A TESTAMENT TO THE STRENGTH AND RESILIENCE OF AFRICAN PEOPLE. WE, ALONG WITH THE COURGE AND SACRIFICES OF CONSCIOUS WHITE AMERICANS, LIKE VIOLA LIUZZO, EVERETT DIRKSEN, AND MANY OTHERS, HAVE FOUGHT AND DIED TOGETHER FOR OUR FREEDOM, AND FOR OUR SURVIVAL.

In America, rights are are not determined by what is just, fair, equitable, honest, nor by what Jesus would do. Rights are determined ONLY by what you can DEMAND.

Because Obama has bought into "American Exceptionalism" he make Bush look like a piker
    various Obama quotes:

We've had enough of a misguided war in Iraq that never should have been fought -- a war that needs to end.

We've had enough of Presidents who put tough talk ahead of real diplomacy.

And we've had enough of politicians who put power over principle, of a government in Washington that shuts you out, and of presidents who don't hold themselves accountable.
it's manifest, Obama is a Unitary POTUS ( putting it as kindly as I can) -despite his previous criticisms of BushCo.

Can't blame Afghanistan on Bush. Obama's been in office for four years, he's had plenty of chances to differentiate himself from bush. So far, I can't really see the difference.

agree. Obama chose to escalate this fiasco -it's why I refuse to vote for him.
That and excessive drone use/NDAA/ extension of Patriot Act. etc. ( it's a long list -don't forget the rape of Libya)

In many ways Obama is more "Bushlike" then Bush.
