    Default "Pro-Choice" Americans at Record-Low 41%

PRINCETON, NJ -- The 41% of Americans who now identify themselves as "pro-choice" is down from 47% last July and is one percentage point below the previous record low in Gallup trends, recorded in May 2009. Fifty percent now call themselves "pro-life," one point shy of the record high, also from May 2009.

The percentage of political independents identifying as pro-choice is 10 points lower today than in May 2011, while the percentage pro-life is up by six points. As a result, pro-lifers now outnumber pro-choicers among this important swing political group for only the second time since 2001, with the first occurring in 2009.

Maybe so, but it's still only 1,024 people.

that doesn't matter that it's "only" 1024 people. Statistics is a science. you only need a sample size of around ~300 to have 95% confidence in your polling data.

Yes it does matter. 1,024 people is 1,024 people, not the entire country. Doesn't matter what the 'science' of statistics is, nor the 'science' to the way questions are framed to elicit particular answers. 1,024 people does not equate to the entire country.

I will be applying that same bullshit every time you bring up a poll where Obama is ahead, right up until the election. If you object, I will quote this post.

Yeah, you do that. Should be pretty funny, too, since I haven't and won't be bringing up any 'polls'.

LOL. Do you know anything about anything? The idea is that by selecting random individuals from geographic areas that collectively represent the makeup of the population, we get a fairly accurate idea of the views of the general public. That's how scientific polls work. They've being doing it that way for a long time, and there's a reason for that: they're usually pretty accurate.

Yes, I'm well aware of how polling works, Azathoth. 'Fairly accurate' is highly subjective, due a number of factors, not the least of which relates to how the questions are framed. In other words, you can pretty much set it up to get exactly the results you're hoping to get. In other words, polls mean diddly squat. That's why I don't refer to them, don't cite them, don't trust them, don't participate in them and don't rely on them for my info.

You can believe whatever you want. Believe the earth is a 6,000-year-old flat disc for all I care. You're denying a science backed up by decades of results.

Poll questions asking about self-identification are meaningless. Take a look at polls that asks questions about the legality of abortion if you want to know what people think about the legality of abortion.
