When conservatives are caught on video doing embarrasing stuff or quoted saying reprehensible things, rightwingers can just pretend that the individuals or groups in question aren't "real" conservatives and don't speak for the "movement".

This is a fallacy known as "no true Scotsman".

Another tactic is to use euphemisms to evade responsibility for rightwing initiatives.

Instaed of admitting that they are engaged in an attempt at "ending" popular social programs, conservatives say they're "saving" the programs being discussed.
