Yes, they will stoop to anything in their lust for power
No, conservatives are honorable
Could be, but the facts aren't known yet
He's guilty, I just know it
Is it possible that French conservatives, desperate to retain power, sent a whore to trap
Dominique Strauss-Kahn?
Prosecutors admitted there are "substantial credibility issues" with the housekeeper who accused him of sexual assault.
A former federal prosecutor said she expects the sexual assault case against Strauss-Kahn to "go away."
"The prosecution hasn't dropped charges yet, but I anticipate that is coming," legal analyst and former federal prosecutor Sunny Hostin said on CBS' "The Early Show on Saturday Morning."
Hostin said the District Attorney sent Brady material - exculpatory information about the case - in a letter to the defense. She said it exposes "significant" problems with Strauss-Kahn's accuser.
"I think the problem is that she cannot withstand cross-examination on the witness stand," Hostin said.
Prosecutors admitted the 32-year-old woman told them a series of lies.
At a hearing Friday the judge quickly returned $1 million bail to Strauss-Kahn. The 62-year-old strolled out of court all smiles
Strauss-Kahn's lawyers say this case is a reminder of how easy it is to enter into a rush to judgment.
Strauss-Kahn is still not allowed to leave the country - authorities continue to hold his passport.
He returns to court July 18.
The credibility of the victim of the accuser is paramount," said Hostin.
"Now that her credibility has been significantly undermined and the prosecution has told the judge that it's undermined, the prosecution has told the defense team it is undermined, in a case like that, the case goes away."

Strauss-Kahn may now enter the French presidential race, although time is running out.
Jack Lang, the former Socialist minister, says Strauss-Kahn will return to France more popular than before.
Many French intellectuals such as Bernard Henri-Levy have always stridently defended him.

It depends. I can imagine this actually playing out positively for him, since he can look like a victim. It's not good for a political candidate to be labelled a rapist, however, no matter how baseless the charges.

Prosecutors are poised to drop all sex assault charges against former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn due to doubts about his accuser's credibility, US media reported Tuesday.
The Wall Street Journal cited officials familiar with the case who said prosecutors seem to be on the verge of dismissing the charges altogether, as doubts increased about the woman's reliability as a witness.

No. Even if the prosecution decides that the case is unwinable he is already facing charges for a different rape in France.
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.

Not exactly, although you seem rather eager to condemn the man.
A lawyer for the French author who claims former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn tried to rape her during a book interview in 2003 says he has filed a criminal complaint with the Paris prosecutor's office.
Lawyer David Koubbi told The Associated Press that he'd filed the complaint by Tristane Banon on Tuesday evening.
Strauss-Kahn has labeled Banon's account "imaginary" and has threatened to file a criminal complaint of slander against her.
A prosecutor can conduct a preliminary investigation to determine if there is enough evidence to support charges against Strauss-Kahn.
Preliminary charges are followed by a lengthier investigation, sometimes lasting years, to determine if the case should go to trial before a judge.
The same process would apply to the slander complaint against Banon.
A slander charge can be brought against anyone who French prosecutors believe deliberately filed a false complaint with authorities.
In Banon's case, an investigation would begin only if her attempted rape complaint is found to be false.
A slander charge carries a maximum term of five years in a prison and a 45,000-euro ($65,000) fine.
French prosecutors could decide not to pursue the case against Strauss-Kahn if they find evidence he engaged in forcible sexual contact that fell short of attempted rape.
The statute of limitations on sexual assault charges in France is three years, while attempted rape charges can be filed for up to 10 years after the alleged crime.

Do you consider Sarkozy to be a conservative? Sarkozy, Merkel, Rutte, Cameron, et al., are in many respects farther to the left than Barack Obama.
And yet, American liberals continue to attack these leaders. Interesting...
