On Friday, more details emerged about last Saturday's alleged attack in Suite 2806 of the Sofitel hotel. A law-enforcement source with knowledge of the case said a room service attendant entered the suite a short time before the 32-year-old Guinean maid arrived.

The room service attendant, who didn't think anyone was in the suite of rooms, used a pass key to let himself in to retrieve some room-service items, the source said. While inside, he left the door ajar, he told police, according to the source.

When the maid showed up at the door about noon, the room-service attendant told her to enter, then departed, the source said.

Once inside, the maid parked her cleaning cart in the doorway, as dictated by hotel policy. A short time later, Strauss-Kahn emerged naked from a room and attacked her, the victim has alleged.

this raises doubt in my mind as to his guilt....a male employee was in the room prior to her....he conveniently leaves the door open (thus she doesn't have to prove she used her key card to access the room) and then he leaves and then kahn comes out naked, chasing her down? did she close the door? which is unusual for maids...did he? this makes think it could be a set up.

and that is relevant for what reason? I said a long time ago that he is a womaniser and was probably guilty of something. I wasn't there so I cannot vouch for an insertion nor do I know either the defendant nor the plaintiff.
But I have lived long enough to make a reasoned guess at what might well be a honey trap and there is no proof that, if it was, the chambermaid knew anything about it.
So look before you leap... unless, of course, you are close to a cliff edge in which case the advice doesnt hold.

I dunno. As I said before, it's a surreal story.

Why on Earth would he do this? On the other hand, besides in some outlandish conspiracy, I can't see why a random chambermaid would make such an accusation against a random man she likely had no idea was running for president of a foreign country. Unless something more pops up, though, I don't see this passing reasonable doubt. An accusation alone should not be sufficient to convict someone of a crime.

Definitely a set up. How many times have you seen a single member of female staff enter or request entry to a room. I have stayed in hotels from the basest dive to the best 5 star and never, not once, has a single female chambermaid, waitress or anything else entered or tried to gain entry into any room. They always work in pairs. In fact, should you return to your room when they are tidying up, they will immediately leave.
Strauss-Kahn was known to think with his second brain and had accumulated enemies both in France and internationally. This was a classic honey trap.
Nevertheless, even under provocation, a man in his position should know when and where to display the blue veined beast. So he is guilty. But there needs to be a full investigation and if the perpetrators of the set up are found they should be prosecuted and hung out to dry.
