Palin accuses critics of 'blood libel' for blaming her for Tucson shootings

Former Alaska governor Sarah Plain, in her first major response to the Tucson shootings, accuses her critics today of "blood libel" for trying to blame the attacks on her.
"Acts of monstrous criminality stand on their own," she says in the seven-minute web video. "They begin and end with the criminals who commit them."
Especially within hours of a tragedy unfolding, she says, "journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn. That is reprehensible."

Some critics have taken issue with Palin for using crosshairs on website political map to single out districts where she wanted Republicans to win in the mid-term elections. One of those districts was represented by Democrat Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot in the head in the melee on Saturday.

In the video, the 2008 GOP vice-presidential candidates quotes former President Ronald Reagan as saying that "we must reject the idea that every time a law is broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker."

"It's time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions," Palin says, still quoting Reagan.

"Acts of monstrous criminality stand on their own," she added. "They begin and end with the criminals who commit them, not collectively with all the citizens of the state, not with those who listen to talk radio, not with maps of swing districts used by both sides of the aisle, not with law-abiding citizens who respectably exercise their First Amendment rights at campaign rallies, not with those who proudly voted in the last election."

To really go apples to apples I think you need to be within 10 years of each other.

LMAO... I was thinking the same thing... comparing a 40 year old to a 66 year old. lol...

How about comparing her to the other woman who was tossed into this....

Sarah Palin... Sarah is still 6 years older than Giffords... but I think it is close enough.

They use mean annual and five year means in trend analysis. Don't tell me I have to explain the difference to you. "

I'm doing exactly what they do, like when they post pictures of Helen Thomas v. Megan McCain.

    who is they?

My comment was a general one to everybody. If people are going to compare women they should be within a 10 year range in my opinion.

My first thoughts for Brewer were Nancy Pelosi and Barbara Boxer who I believe are both 71. A little older than Brewer but within the age window.
