That will make it much cheaper to clean up. Excellent.
I stated some time ago that the warm waters in the Gulf would cause the majority of the oil spill to either evaporate or be consumed by microbes. This has now come to pass, so I feel entitled to say I told you so. We have had several serious oil spills over the years, on this side of the pond, they have all been shown to have had a negligible effect on the environment despite all the apocalyptic warnings from all the usual suspects.

Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.

Believe nothing on the faith of traditions, even though they have been held in honor for many generations and in diverse places. Do not believe a thing because many people speak of it. Do not believe on the faith of the sages of the past. Do not believe what you yourself have imagined, persuading yourself that a God inspires you. Believe nothing on the sole authority of your masters and priests. After examination, believe what you yourself have tested and found to be reasonable, and conform your conduct thereto.

....various components of crude oil, such as benzene, toluene, and polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons, present risks and are all known carcinogens. Other components of oil—mercury and lead—are also toxic and there are concerns that the dispersants BP is using in unprecedented amounts to break-up the spill are also toxic. Now, CNN is reporting that in excess of 1.8 million gallons of dispersant chemicals have been dumped into the Gulf of Mexico in attempts to separate the oil moving in from the Deepwater Horizon’s broken well.

you're a smug bastard
it doesn't take away from the calamity nor gross negligence of bp
From one smug bastard to another, it takes one to recognise one. I wonder if you are man enough to recognise the disgusting behaviour of Occidental Petroleum over the Piper Alpha tragedy?

Ask bp shareholders how dire 5 billion in cleanup and 20 billion in liability feels?
The stone that the builder refused
Will always be the head corner stone
The British Polluters are trying to pull out of their commitments already.
"Little of the oil remains on the water, but that doesn't mean it has all vanished. Scientists are worried that much of it has been trapped below the surface after more than 770,000 gallons of chemical dispersant were used to break up the oil a mile deep. They have found evidence of massive clouds of oil suspended in the water."

Translation, some scientists are pissed off that their apocalyptic warnings have not come to pass. They said the exact same thing about the Saddam Hussein's deliberate oil spill into the Persian Gulf. That resulted in over 11 million barrels ending up in the sea, more than twice as much as in the Gulf of Mexico.

BP isn't out of it yet, TP.

You are flogging a dead horse, you need to find another bête noire. The average payout in Bhopal was around $3000; yet the hookers in New Orleans will probably get far more than that, so how does that make sense?
