Default Climate change denial is futile

"Rapid increases in human-induced carbon emissions are causing the oceans to suffer in profound ways, and the problem is getting worse.

In a new review published in the journal Current Biology, Andrew Brierley of St. Andrews University in Scotland and Michael Kingsford of Australia's Cook University write that if warming continues at these levels, not seen in 56 million years, the planet will experience a 4.6-foot rise in sea levels by 2100 and a near-total disappearance of the ice-covered polar seas by 2020.

The loss of most coral reefs by 2040 is also looking increasingly plausible. Skyrocketing emissions are making the world's seas dangerously acidic, and ocean acidification is irreversible for tens of thousands of years

President Obama has said "Now is the time to confront this challenge once and for all. Delay is no longer an option. Denial is no longer an acceptable response."

Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated. But it will be too late to do anything about it.
The right will deny this till the end.
Bush doubled the debt from 5 trillion to 10 trillion.
    Proving tax cuts work!

Bush asked for and signed for the TARP money.
The Republican senate leader backed Bush on this.

President Obama rejects that view, affirming that his plan to save the environment will reduce oil imports, create jobs in energy conservation and renewable energy, and reverse the warming of the atmosphere.

“My presidency will mark a new chapter in America’s leadership on climate change that will strengthen our security and create millions of new jobs in the process”.

Ohh I agree that is the way to go for several reasons.
But we will go in that direction in too likmited of a manner.

I am against carbon credit trading. Just limit carbon emissions period.

Any governor who’s willing to promote clean energy will have a partner in the White House. Any company that’s willing to invest in clean energy will have an ally in Washington, and and any nation that’s willing to join the cause of combating climate change will have an ally in the United States of America.

A very limited ally because of mostly corporate control of our govt.
Green gets in the way of more profit for too many companies.

I think we all wish the economy was a lot better, but I feel very strongly that we can’t back away from progress we’ve made on really important things like climate change.

I’m glad we finally have a federal government and a president who will provide real leadership and bring the United States into line with the rest of the world on this critical issue.

I do not believe we have nearly as green of a govt as you think.
Or even a president for that matter. Once corporate pressure is applied.

The Federal government administers a wide array of public-private partnerships to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions and greenhouse gas emissions intensity.

These programs focus on energy efficiency, renewable energy, methane and other non-carbon dioxide (non-CO2) gases, agricultural practices and implementation of technologies to achieve greenhouse gas reductions.

The United States won sustained applause at the Bonn international climate talks in March when President Obama's envoy pledged to "make up for lost time" in reaching a global agreement on climate change.

After eight years of obdurate obstruction of U.N. climate talks by the corrupt Bush administration, I can understand your cynicism.

My cynicism is well founded. I understand enough of how my government works, or more to the point works for corporate interests.
And a slight dem majority in congress and a Dem preisdent will not change that but very little.
The Dems are largly controlled by coprorations as well. Healthcvare reform illustrates that point perfectly, even with Obama.
None of them have any balls to do what is needed.

President Obama has set aside $80 billion in his economic stimulus package for green energy, $150 billion for research over 10 years, and is tightening regulations on auto emissions.
