Orange County will always have a temperate climate because of the moderating marine effects of the Pacific Ocean.

This actually gives me hope. I'm betting the majority of these west bound pilgrims are leaving Florida because of the bullshit socialist crap they believe in. Screw 'em. More red state freedom for me to breathe in.

Hopefully you all will get your money's worth.

Orlando is not in the middle of a swamp. The Everglades south of Lake Okeechobee in South Florida is a swamp. Orlando was pine scrubland.

Southern California OTOH is in the middle of a DESERT. Which is why they have to STEAL water from other states and are now drinking and bathing in recycled raw sewage.

    https://calmatters.org/environment/2...inking%20water.

You can talk all you want to about how highly treated it is, but every time you drink tap water or from a public drinking fountain, you'll know that just yesterday, millions of people pissed and shit in it.

    Drink up, California!!!

And how many/what percentage of southern Californians actually go skiing? Half of 1% tops? Puh-lease.

Anyway, it must be wonderful to look forward to the exact same weather on Christmas day as on the Fourth of July.

    Wow. How awesome.

This California vs Florida shit has gotten so boring.

The reason why woke, SJW crowd has a hard on for Florida is obvious.

We don't kiss the feet and asses of society's favorite victim groups.

Miami and Jacksonville both have higher crime rates than Los Angeles

It shouldn't be that painful for you to admit the climate in Orlando is substantially worse than Orange County, unless you love unbearable heat, humidity, and mosquitoes. I don't have any doubt that was a big factor Disney employees complained about being transferred to the humid swamplands of Orlando.

I hear Disney World is becoming almost unbearable in the Summer, with global warming continuing relentlessly

Maybe because our law enforcement just does a better job of catching and jailing our criminals because we don't have woke, SJW city leaders who order them to look the other way for certain crimes.

I have no problem admitting that it gets excessively warm and humid here for 1/3 of the year. But that is what comes along with having a plentiful supply of water, which comes down from the clouds in the form of rain. A function of the humidity in the atmosphere.

You all have low humidity but you pay for it by having to drink sewage.

    I'll take the humidity.

And you think California is immune to that?

I hear temperatures in Southern California lately have been in the 90's too.

It is not effecting older people as much, yet. One major hurricane, and old people will get the message too. In the last 5 years, homeowners insurance has risen by 300%. It is sometimes impossible to get homeowners insurance at any price. A hurricane will bring home to old people that Florida is a place that can and will wipe out your nest egg.
It IS affecting older people now. Many can't afford homeowners insurance, if they can even find a company that will write them a policy. One of our JPP Floridians recently experienced problems with that. You're right. One natural disaster -- sinkhole, tornado, hurricane, flood, fire -- and they are both homeless and penniless if they don't have insurance.

Considering that people spend quite a lot of time outdoors in Orlando and other parts of Florida, it is obvious you have never been there.
Orlando is not a swamp, but has many swamps and lakes. It isn't the Everglades, dope.

Orange County is just a desert that's been paved over. Today, Orange County enjoys an extremely high crime rate, most of which no longer gets reported, since the police are quitting. It's not quite as bad as L.A. is yet, but it's going the same way.

Hurricanes do arrive in Orlando, but it weathers them quite well, being centrally located. It has been described as an 'amusement park city', due to the high number of large amusement parks. North of that city lies The Villages, a retirement community covering three counties (and still expanding!). Critters include the alligator and crocodiles, a fast moving black snake called a 'racer', and an occasional monkey problem. Vegetation is lush.

Earthquakes occur regularly in Orange County, as well as high Santa Ana winds, making the dry vegetation a tinderbox for wildfire (most of that is caused by arson). Critters include rats, rattlesnakes, and what's left of the fentynal users after regular use of the stuff. Oppressive laws are the norm in the SDTC, from high taxes to bans on guns, gasoline cars, toilets that work, etc. There is also a paranoia about oil and oil products, solder, epoxies, guns, fireworks, lead, carbon, viruses, and anything that has a chemical sounding name in it. Vegetation is sparse (except where it's manicured), consisting primarily of sagebrush (where tumbleweeds come from) and a bit of grass.

Remember in 9th grade civics class when they explained how our economy works, and what supply and demand are? Oh, that's right. You were under the bleachers picking up cig butts again for skipping English class.

Popular places to live are expensive because they are popular. If there are 10 houses for sale and 100 buyers, what do you think the price of those houses will do? What happened to all of us in the pandemic when there were shortages of stuff? Prices went up, right, Toxic? You're STILL crying about that to this day.

Good grief. Why do the gods make so much stupid?

Not to mention there is probably a brain drain on Florida. California is expensive, and is probably mostly drawing educated and high income Floridians.
I've read recently that a lot of teachers are leaving the state, too. Usual reasons -- better pay elsewhere, lower cost of living, no desire to worry about teaching the "wrong thing" according to DeSantis and being disciplined.
