Indeed.
It also violates the Civil Rights Act to appoint someone based on gender or race.
Biden said he would only consider a Black woman for V.P., a clear vupiolation of the Civil Rights Act.
Black men and white men and women need not apply.
America started to decline when quotas were adopted by the far left Democratic Socialist loons.

It is fine to disagree, but it is just not logical.
Today, if you are telling companies, 'i do not think diversity matters. I think you could keep your companies full of all white males like they were most in the 1950's and it would have no impact on your business', well ...that is just naive.
Companies sell to women and minorities too and having them on the team and inputting what is important to them and what works in selling to them matters.
I think the only group that thinks 'white males can do it all, no one else is needed' is white males. Sorry but alone as a group you are not better selling to women's interests and POC interests.
But beyond that, fine if you want to believe that, but companies, nor governments have to believe they are not stronger and better served by having diversity to address the issues of a diverse clientele or diverse society.
Earl (05-30-2023)
If you consider 'serving the needs of a diverse society' part of the qualifications to be a Senator, then race and gender must be considered.
For instance look at the massive discrepancy in Republican state house voting on ALL women's health issues including abortion where almost 100% white men vote for the harshest and most restrictive measures put on the table, while the Republican women increasingly break away and vote in favour of women's health care rights, even when the woman is anti abortion.
That is because white men are not considering and do not care or understand how many OTHER women's health care issues are being impacted by these overly repressive measures. Men have never cared much or wanted to even know what is going on with women's health care issues.
That is why it is ENORMOURSLY important to have gender considered, when more than 50% of the populace will be impacted by another gender who will not 2 seconds to consider the downstream impacts of what they do.

Ohhhhh we have a student of Ron DiSantis school system who only gets Chapter one of each history book.
Yes pre the Civil war and Civll and Womens rights movements, most Southern Dems (DixieCrats) were the racist in the US. IN Chapter 2 (that part DeSantis bans you from reading) you learn they all moved to the Republican party and that is why the GOP is now the party of racists.
Sadly for you DeSantis has not been able to ban FULL history outside Florida.
How the ‘Party of Lincoln’ Won Over the Once Democratic South
Democratic defectors, known as the “Dixiecrats,” started a switch to the Republican party in a movement that was later fueled by a so-called "Southern strategy."

DiSantis has banned no books.
This is the lie that the far left Democratic Socialist loons ignore.
DeSantis removed non-age appropriate material from school libraries where young children are present.
These books are still available in book stores and public libraries.
Why when what you are saying is a lie?
Again there is not one single person in the country qualified to get any of these jobs. That is not how things work.
That is the constant lie the right spins. There are always NUMEROUS people qualified to do the job graduating schools and not a clear singular best for any of these jobs.
So what ALWAYS happens is that NUMEROUS other factors then get factored in to the hiring decisions.
I get that you Trumpderps have never held a job above counter help level but i can tell you whether it is for top corporate or top government positions, there ALWAYS ends up being a list of applicants qualified for the job. A list that often requires them bring in consultants and hiring specialists to help them choose the best applicant across multiple considerations areas since they ALL meet the top base requirements of the job.
So this lie that republiclowns spin, that the persons are not qualified, is just that, a lie. FOr instance Republiclowns touted it as positive when Trump said he would appoint a 'women' and then did so with ACB to the Supreme Court. The same republiclowns cried foul when Biden said he would appoint a black women and did so with Justice Jackson, who in every way measurable had more experience and was more qualified than ACB.

Newsom is appointing a short term temporary US Senator who will not be in the business of selling any goods or services for a commercial enterprise..
If I were a Newsom constituent, I would hold him responsible for appointing the very best available person for the job.
By declaring that the candidate will be a black woman for certain,
he is announcing that he's more interested in pandering to the pathetic, hypersensitive WOKE community
than he is in choosing the very best candidate,
which might or might not be a black woman.
If ethnic diversity turns out to not being the result of choosing the very best people available,
and I'm sot suggesting that this would necessarily be case,
that would rather clearly illustrate
that at least at that point time,
the various ethnic/gender combination are NOT equal in terms of having the talent required.
If we force ethnic diversity under that situation,
then we're fucking up, and rather stupidly at that.
I am a democratic socialist, lower case letters, not a reactionary conservative,
but the best approach to addressing diversity
is to be absolutely color blind.

FLORIDA BOOK BANS ARE NO HOAX: HERE ARE THE FACTS
March 10, 2023
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis set out Wednesday to “expose the book ban hoax,” claiming that only “pornographic and inappropriate” materials have been removed from Florida classrooms. His claims are false.
Download the fact sheet: Florida Book Ban Facts
DESANTIS CLAIM:
Books are being removed from Florida classrooms and libraries because they are “pornographic, violent or inappropriate.”
FACT:
Books that have been banned in Florida include:
Biographies of Hank Aaron and Roberto Clemente that Duval County admitted to removing from shelves for nearly a year, along with 177 other books from a collection of diverse books.
And Tango Makes Three, a picture book about two male penguins raising a chick.
Stella Brings the Family, a picture book about a girl with two dads.
When Wilma Rudolph Played Basketball, pulled from open shelves temporarily after one person complained about it.
Forever, by Judy Blume
Booker Prize winner The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy
Nobel Prize winner Toni Morrison’s The Bluest Eye
All Boys Aren’t Blue, by George M. Johnson
The Handmaid’s Tale, by Margaret Atwood
Dozens of books that include LGBTQ+ themes, protagonists of color, or that touch on race or racism.
DESANTIS CLAIM:
The most books banned in any district in Florida in 2023 is 19 books, in Duval And St. Johns counties. The total across the state is 175 books removed.
FACT:
In 2023, to comply with new laws, some Florida schools were directed to empty libraries and cover classroom bookshelves. Teachers in Manatee County and Duval County were told they had to have each book in their classrooms reviewed before they could go back. Martin County removed dozens of books after they were objected to by one person.
In the 2021-22 school year PEN America documented 565 books banned in Florida schools. Some were banned permanently, others temporarily pending investigations. The result is the same: Students can’t access books. You can see how we define a book ban here.
DESANTIS CLAIM:
Florida has expanded African American history, including with HB7.
FACT:
HB7, known as the Stop W.O.K.E. act and officially called the Individual Freedom Act, is an educational gag order. Among other things, it prevents teachers from discussing advantages or disadvantages based on race. Discussion of systemic racism is considered “critical race theory” and not allowed.
“The bill’s provisions affect the state’s students, educators, and administrators from kindergarten through college, curtailing their freedom to teach, explain, discuss, or access information on a wide range of topics–rights enshrined by the First Amendment,” said Nadine Farid Johnson, managing director of PEN America Washington and free expression programs.
DESANTIS CLAIM:
Florida “has taken a stand against sexual material and pornography in the classroom.”
FACT:
No one is advocating for pornography in schools. Florida laws signed by DeSantis, however, are so broad they could sweep up a wide swath of books, including classics like Romeo and Juliet and To Kill a Mockingbird. Coupled with a recent directive to “err on the side of caution,” some schools are doing just that — with disastrous results for the freedom to read.
