DeSantis is not ready for the National stage, yet. He will ruin his brand if he declares now instead of waiting until Trump runs again and loses again. That is because DeSantis cannot inherit Trump's base as long as Trump is running and Trump will run (and lose) from the prisoners box, as he will believe being POTUS is the best chance he has to stay out of Jail. And he is correct. Even State Prosecutions would almost certainly cede to not asking for a person just elected Potus, to serve his time in a State prison while Potus.
