Ban on semi automatic weapons, which was passed by a GOP led Congress, expired in 2004, and the gun manufacturers started to promote them immediately after cashing in after 9/11. Mass production flowed thereafter, especially when Obama got elected in 2008
Access to guns was not as easy as it is today, especially given mere number of guns out there, more guns in circulation than there are Americans

Indeed.
My friends would often bring a new rifle or shotgun to the school parking lot to show their friends.
No shots were ever fired. No school children were ever harmed by a gun.
Mentally disturbed adults and children are allowed to walk the streets and kill at will.
The left has always been against institutionalizing those with mental issues.
I blame the left.

This one ^ is beautiful, because “guns were actually brought to schools for show and tell, some were shot in physics classes, and anyone who was a Boy Scout paged through Boys Life monthly magazine admiring the Winchester and Remmington ads.” Too funny
Offers an antidotal narrative about guns in show and tell to imply there is no problem with guns in schools nor seemingly school shootings
And who in the hell ever went to school were guns were used in show and tell? or shot in physics classes?

The first K-12 mass shooting of the modern era occurred in 1989 in the schoolyard at the Cleveland Elementary School in Stockton, California.
This started about three decades ago.
Before that, there were guns available to most people and there were no mass school shootings.
Given the weakness and inconsistency of existing law, not difficult, even within legal means
If not, find someone to sell you one, go online, pass the sale off as a private sale, don’t cross State borders, promise to obey relevant laws, and in many States, you are on your way. And you always have the street, put the word out among those who would know and it shouldn’t be a problem
