So when did the semi-automatic weapons become "available" and when did they begin to Market them? Guns in general were always easy access... I taught for 30 years in schools where there were often shootings in the neighborhood ...we never had any problem in our schools at all...though we did confiscate the occasional weapon...

Given the weakness and inconsistency of existing law, not difficult, even within legal means

If not, find someone to sell you one, go online, pass the sale off as a private sale, don’t cross State borders, promise to obey relevant laws, and in many States, you are on your way. And you always have the street, put the word out among those who would know and it shouldn’t be a problem
