Gun question.

I shoot about every 2 weeks, rifle, pistol and shotgun. More often if I'm preparing for a hunt. I approach "gun questions" like this one with trepidation when it's posted in the current events forum on JPP (coincidentally right after 2 mass shootings). And we're not talking about firearms here, are we? We're talking about the ammunition. I continue to maintain that NO firearm is "lethal" until it's in the hands of a human being, or maybe a chimp smart enough to get the safety off.

So far most of the retards keep repeating "dead is dead". Duh. The question they keep running from is the lethality of different ammunition in different situations.

You are technically correct. However due to the high velocity of the 223 round, creates a shockwave that inflicts more damage. Personally, I don't want to be hit by any bullet.

It was designed by by an American guy called Eugene Stoner around 1957/1958, when he was Chief engineer at the California-based ArmaLite small arms company.

Stoner's original AR-15 was a fuly automatic rifle.

The US Military was impressed with the AR-15 for its accuracy, reliability, light (8 Pounds) weight and remarkably power, among other things..

It fired .233 Remington rounds and could pierce slabs of metal plate at a distance of 500 yards.

Stoner's AR-15 also fired very high-velocity rounds that were supersonic at 500 yards.

The US Army were sold and it placed orders for 1000's of Stoner's AR-15s with the ArmaLite company in the late 1950.

The Army made some minor modifications to the AR-15 and designated it the M-16.

The M-16 was an assault rifle capable of semi-automatic and fully - automatic fire.

So,that is the pedigree of today's AR-15 ("America's favourite rifle).

An AR-15 rifle you buy today is only capable of semi-automatic fire (it cannot fire in a fully-automatic mode).

What makes today's AR-15 so lethal is the supersonic velocity of the rounds it fires that are still travelling at a phenomenal speed at 500 yards.

If a person is hit by a round travelling at this kind of speed, as it passes into their body the round gives off shock - waves that pulverize/macerate/totally destroy the the body tissues and organs , etc it passes through. Basically if you get hit by an AR-15 round you're dead - or you will be pretty soon. The AR-15 is a totally lethal rife. The only context where its use can be "justified" is in combat on a battlefield.

The AR-15 is not fully-automatic, but it is a bone fide assault rife none the less- it is one, f**king deadly piece of kit, dude.
