    Default Iowa Republicans want to ban SNAP recipients from buying meat, white bread,

    Iowa Republicans proposed a bill that would drastically limit what foods SNAP recipients can buy.
    People wouldn't be able to buy grocery staples like white bread, American cheese, fresh meat, and more.
    Critics argue the bill would further burden low-income people who are already food-insecure.
    Iowa Republicans are proposing sweeping changes to the state's food assistance program — including banning beneficiaries from buying grocery staples like meat, American cheese, or flour.

    SNAP recipients wouldn't be able to buy a variety of foods, including white grain bread, buns with added nuts or seeds, white rice, pasta sauce, canned fruits or soups, baked beans, cheese slices, butter, or flour.

    The vast majority of those who get food stamps are children. How much do you think they should pay?

    Older, and disabled Iowans who rely on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits would not be able to buy things like fresh meat, white bread and sliced American cheese.

    “Iowans on SNAP would not be able to buy meat, flour, butter, cooking oil, frozen prepared food. It’s a huge list,” Iowa Hunger Coalition Chair Luke Elzinga said.

    Oh, Did you find you a new word to replace the NIGGER word?

    Every time we see you use the WOKE word- all we see is NIGGER because you always try to make the black man out to be something as bad as you can.

    Do you actually think using the word Woke instead of Nigger makes you any less a hopeless disgusting racist?

    You are truly a piece of shit!

    So why don't you Shut the fuck up already YOU WHITE NIGGER trailer park trash- probably now living on welfare and food stamps yourself.

    While I disagree with the Iowa law, I do think that people getting food stamps should not be allowed to use them on buying prepared meals like fast food and the like as this is a waste of what was intended. Prepared meals cost far more than foods you prepare yourself. Food stamps are meant for the indigent to give them enough to eat. If they are wasting them at Micky D's and the like on expensive meals they don't deserve to get them to begin with.

    Generally they cannot use food stamps to buy "prepared meals".

    Don't know where you got that information from.

    The RMP (Restaurant Meal Program) part of food stamps allows it. Arizona is one of the states that does this. All the fast food places here advertise they take EBT cards. I can't speak for the whole country, but it shouldn't be allowed at all.

    As I have stated, it is not generally allowed.

    Which SNAP Clients can use their SNAP Benefits at Restaurants?

    To be eligible for the RMP, SNAP clients must be certified for SNAP in a state that has an RMP and all members of the household must be either:

    Elderly (60 years of age or older);
    disabled (receives disability or blindness payments or receives disability retirement benefits from a governmental agency because of a disability considered permanent);
    homeless; or
    a spouse of a SNAP client who is eligible for the RMP.

    Which Restaurants can Participate in the RMP?

    To participate in the RMP, the restaurant must:

    Be in a state that has an RMP.
    Get approval from the state and provide a signed agreement to FNS.
    Be authorized by FNS to accept SNAP benefits.

    Each state can set their own requirements for choosing how many and which restaurants they want to allow to participate in their state's RMP. For more information, please contact the RMP contact for your participating state listed below.

    I've personally seen people who clearly don't fit those requirements use their cards at fast food places. Apparently the EBT readers don't discriminate...

    That wouldn't work. And even if it does, they'll lose their licenses.
