You know, in the past, the uber rich were taxed far more and did not just leave, at a time when it was easier to leave and not have everything tracked as the world was not as connected as it is now.


Second you know most of the uber rich have businesses and other interests in the US, that they cannot just pack up and leave with easily right?

What you are saying, is to avoid a more fair tax, these uber rich would simply stop doing anything in the US or with the US, to avoid the tax. that is kind of like you saying "I don't want to pay income tax, so i refuse to do a job and get paid'. Neither you, nor the uber rich are winning by avoiding tax if you are shut out of the US job and investment markets.

They don't care if they are shut out. They will simply build manufacturing in some other country that isn't so abusive. They won't sell any product in the States that doesn't make them a profit. If the government takes all that profit, the product simply won't be for sale in the States.

It was not an increase in tax brackets and making them pay, that saw any of those industries see SOME leave. The effective corporate tax rate had been steadily coming DOWN from the 50's highs.

Asia and certain countries will always compete for certain industries, and even as taxes GO DOWN, they will get some of them. What you neglect to say is how HOnda, Toyota, Hyundai and others came to the USA at that time, and set up operations.

So again, Billionaires HAVE NOT fled the country and just packed up jobs due to taxes going up. There is real cost and loss of business for them if they do it.
