Well, depending on the court, the definition of 'freedom' will be the debate.

I believe it is meant to give everyone the right to worship freely, not discriminate for religious purposes. But Red states are continuing to give carte blanche in the name of religion.

First amendment freedom of religion applies equally to red and blue states. Freedom of religion has always allowed types of discrimination for religious purposes. Students may be excused from the pledge of allegiance for religious purposes, Amish don't have to pay Social Security or attend school past the 8th grade because of religious beliefs. Jehovah's Witnesses may cover up the slogan on their license plate because of religious beliefs.

I believe the vax debate eventually came down to people not being allowed to demand religious exemption if their church hadn't come out against vaccination. Perhaps that was only in some states?

If someone wants to hide behind religious freedom in these cases, perhaps their entire life should be scrutinized to be sure they are truly 'religious'?

I'm not aware of cases prohibiting a religious exemption for somebody unless their church opposed the vaccination.

I don't think the courts would allow the government to determine if someone is "truly religious." They might be required to show their beliefs are "sincere" (conscientious objector).

Im aggressive but also fair with a sense of decency. I have had absolute WARS in here with both Concart and Diesel. But a funny thing happened along the way. About 6 weeks ago or so In a rare moment Diesel showed some real decency to me,...I returned that decency in kind, as anyone should. Since that time there has not been one cross word between us. Not one. Exact same thing happened with Concart a couple weeks ago. Im hoping it keeps going to be honest. Its all about common decency and respect with me. If I get it,...I will give it,.....doesnt matter who it is or what political party they vote for either. If the choice is between peace and war I will choose peace every single time if it is at all possible. IMO what we all need to remember is that just because we all may disagree politically it in no way means that the other person is some kind of monster because in most cases they are not. In fact, most are quite probably very nice people in the real world. There is only one Monster that inhabits this board,....that would be Dutch.
