    Default Sick Political Stunts

It's a shame so many of our RW friends here struggle with reading. This article is eye-opening, but only when the mind is also open.

The Story Behind DeSantis’s Migrant Flights to Martha’s Vineyard

In the case of the flights to Martha’s Vineyard, Florida state records show that an airline charter company, Vertol Systems, was paid $615,000 on Sept. 8 and $950,000 less than two weeks later. The first payment was for “project 1” and the second payment for “projects two and three.” So far, Florida officials have acknowledged only the initial flights and have not spoken of plans for others.

The money to fly migrants came from a special $12 million appropriation in the state’s last budget, a brief item that gave funds to the state’s Department of Transportation to create a program “to facilitate the transport of unauthorized aliens from this state.

    ...

Beth Folcarelli, the chief executive at the center, Martha’s Vineyard Community Services, said she was in her office talking to a senior staff member at about 3:45 p.m. when outside the window they spotted a group of people walking in the nonprofit’s direction.

“The people approaching looked inquisitive, and like they were looking for help,” she recalled. She stepped out to ask what they needed.

All she understood were the words “Venezuela” and “refugees,” so she rushed inside for help from a manager named Geany Rolanti, who speaks Spanish.

Eventually, 48 people from the flights, including several children, had gathered in the nonprofit’s parking lot.

The aid group workers were stumped: Who are you? How did you get here?

A migrant told them that they had been promised that the community service organization would help them with housing and a job.

Soon, the migrants were receiving items from a community thrift shop, Chicken Alley: trousers, T-shirts, shoes. Stores in the area donated underwear. An island hotline was inundated with calls from people who wished to help. Donations and volunteers poured into the church where the migrants spent two nights sleeping on cots.

Staff members at the community center in Martha’s Vineyard arranged for a migrant named Pablo to call home to Venezuela, Ms. Rolanti said. He appeared broken.

“My love, we were tricked,” he told his wife, weeping uncontrollably. “This woman lied to us. She lied.”
I'm sure the good people of Florida are proud to have their taxes dollars wasted on cruel political stunts.

The people of Martha's vineyard stepped up and told everyone how Christians are supposed to behave. If Desantis claims to be a Christian he just struck out.

They did not just tell us, they showed us by their actions. If they were as vile as DeSatan, they would have put them back on a plane and dropped them off at DeSatan's FL mansion, or at the gates of Mar-A-Lardo, but they didn't.

Exactly. The (R)s owned the WH and both houses for quite a while during the Four Long Years of Sorrow. Did they proffer *any* solutions to the immigration crisis, other than "me build giant wall, make Mexico pay"?

They don't want to fix immigration because then they'll lose yet another pet issues to whip their baskets of deplorables up with.

Will it end up in Federal court?

I don't really know. I would think though that the state of FL would have something to say about the misuse of $1.5M of the $12M they allocated to remove illegal immigrants *from Florida,* not Texas.

Funny part is that the only people that DeSantis told was Fox News, everyone else, the refugees, those that at Martha Vineyard, the world, were all kept in the dark

Yep. Hence the title of this thread. You'd think that if the state had allocated $12M to remove illegals from the state's territory, DeSatan could have found 48 who didn't need to be imported from elsewhere to deport to MV. Or were there none around to deport, hmm?

I don't even think they illegal, they were asking for asylum from Venezuela, which is a legal action under US law.

As long as the MAGA cult has been complaining about the horrors of socialism in Venezuela you would think they would be at least a little sympathetic to people trying to flee it.

That’s one of the complaints Adams in NYC has with Abbott, even though requested by Adams, Abbott refused to tell him who is coming and where they are being dropped off in NYC

Not only asked for but received a court date, which means they were temporarily allowed legal status in the US. Ergo, not "illegals".

So Christ would ship them off to the Cape of Cod ?

No. Nor would he expect Caesar to handle them.

How is that different than shipping them out o FLA ?
