Although the storm came ashore during former Gov. Rick Scott's administration, the $25 billion-dollar clean-up would become one of DeSantis' first responsibilities.

Scott had been famous for forbidding the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to use the words "climate change" and "global warming" in any official communication, but DeSantis took a different approach. Wasting no time, he signed an executive order during his first week in office addressing a series of environmental issues and appointing a chief science officer to "prioritize scientific data, research, monitoring, and analysis. He also announced the creation of the Office of Resilience and Coastal Protection to help communities deal with rising sea levels.

The change in tone from the Scott administration to the DeSantis governorship would appear that Florida, a state highly susceptible to the impacts of global warming, might have a conservative leader ready to move past climate denial and ready to take legitimate action.
I think that's valid praise for DeSantis, but let's not be too hasty. If he decides to run for national office and dump Florida, I bet his song will change. In order to get votes he'll adhere to the slackjaws' mantra of "Wut climate change?"

wasnt it just this week that NOAA published charts demonstrating that there has been no variance in hurricane activity and strength over the past hundred years ?

and despite all this so called global warming, FLA is not under water nor is NYC, etc etc etc.

a few islands (large sand bars actually) in the indian ocean or thereabouts that were already sinking have continued to sink, the rest is non-sense.

DeSantis has signed legislation during his term in office allocating resources for restoring the everglades and for sea-level rise preparedness. However, he has not addressed the overwhelming scientific consensus that climate change is real and caused by the burning of fossil fuels, facts that a majority of Republicans in Congress, for example, deny are true as well.

Luigi Guadarrama, the political director of the Sierra Club's Florida chapter, said in an interview with the American Independent Foundation that DeSantis' support for so-called resiliency programs "makes him seem as if he's got environmental policies. But climate change is something around which there is scientific consensus. We're not seeing a whole lot of common sense in his policies. He tends to toss aside serious ideas about climate change as just 'left-wing politics,' not expert opinions from scientists."
Luigi Guadarrama has no significant grounding or education in anything related to science, engineering, or environmental policy I can find. Hell, there's no evidence he even has a degree in anything, let alone has gone to college. So, what he has to say is pretty much just irrelevant blather from a know-nothing. Interestingly, he is registered to vote in both Florida and Colorado... So, when Luigi Guadarrama says He tends to toss aside serious ideas about climate change as just 'left-wing politics,' not expert opinions from scientists." I'd say it is just a reflection of himself having serious ideas about climate change because of his left-wing politics, and not being an expert or scientist and foisting his amateur and ill-informed opinions on us.

This is what you idiots make your candidates do!

Pretend from moment to moment that they don’t believe in science

This storm and it’s predecessors make it impossible to keep saying science is bad

The fun in being your stupidest self is going out of style

People now see how stupid it is to just say “oh that’s bullshit” when you hear facts that make you feel icky

It isn't. No gas or vapor has the capability to warm the Earth. The only thing 'real' about global warming is the Church that worships it.

Neither Midway nor Kure islands are underwater either. The airbases built on them just a few feet above sea level are still there.

That's because the sea level isn't rising there. It's rising only off Democrat Leftist run cities on a coast...
