Default So if Florida is the “State of Freedom,” as DeSantis propagandizes,

are Floridians now looking to the Government to help them recover or are they still boasting “freedom,” and doing it without the Government? Does DeSantis now embark upon the big government he supposedly opposes to address the need?

It's interesting that Gavin Newsom calls California the Freedom State. Do Republicans and Democrats have different definitions of freedom and therefore its consistent for him to call California that while supporting big government?

Recreational Marijuana is legal in California.
Recreational Marijuana is illegal in Florida.
Abortion is openly accessible in California.
Abortion is strictly regulated in Florida.

Just two examples off the top of my head.

Ok, except that's not what's being discussed.

I'm choosing Florida over California every time and it appears that many agree... who would base where they live on the availability of marijuana, abortion, or the option to discuss transsexuality or homosexuality with young children in classrooms?

Every one has a different definition of “freedom,” unfortunately, some even apply it like a bumper sticker cliche. As I’ve said, and as Locke implied with the social contract, freedom is based upon reason, not desire

Newsom and DeSantis are both politicians and rant accordingly

The question was not what state you would chose, it was what state is more free.

“every time?” Without going thru my usual feelings toward Florida, one State is interesting, has several iconic surroundings, the other, flat and boring as hell, guess which one is which

How do you define freedom? To me it’s the right to do as you chose.

He's an exponent of contemporary Right wing attitudes - a "philosophy" is beyond them - that government is there when you need it, to stomp on when you're feeling you don't.

Some posters don’t realize that personal freedoms are a big deal and some states are slowly taking rights
away or refuse to allow certain rights. A recent poll showed half of American workers are willing to relocate to abortion friendly states.

What good is "freedom" to do any of the mentioned things if you don't want to live there?

No, that wasn't the question. Read what he wrote. He said if Florida claims it's a state of freedom then why are they relying on big government for help. (because it's the strawman argument that freedom = no government) Thus my response that Newsom, running ads in Florida, claims California is the Freedom State and does that mean we in California don't need/want big government? Or is freedom defined differently between right and left.

It's not about weed or abortion.
