By the time they know how far south Ian was going, how strong it would hit, how bad the surge was, how big it was.....by then it was too late to move them...the seas were too bad.

They were failed by the experts....which happens all the fucking time now.

Another thing too the shrimpers likely evacuated.....they were hundreds of miles away when they figured out that their boats were in big trouble, because the experts proved to be very wrong.

as soon as they knew it was going to ricochet back to FLA thats when the boats had to move. From Key West to Tampa.

of course now all those skippers will be getting new boats to replace the insured ones....

The original prediction was it would make landfall in the Tampa Bay area and wind shear would reduce it to a category 1 before it made landfall. They went with that one for days.
