This is what you typically see in Puerto Rico for home construction.
The door and window framing isn't doubled up. There isn't a double top plate on the wall. The wall framing is too far apart even for partition walls, let alone structural ones. Worst, the roof consists of undersized plain rafters that are too far apart and don't even have the basic 2.5 hurricane tie that's required pretty much everywhere in the 48.
You see the same thing here. This home is of flimsy construction. The roof, where the damage starts in hurricanes, has too few rafters that are undersized, and the sheet metal roofing undoubtedly has too few screws or nails holding it down. The walls obviously aren't properly anchored to the rim joists for the second to first floor, and again the framing is substandard entirely.
Puerto Rico fucked themselves with shitty construction standards.
