Alcohol intoxication for the most part IS illegal, at least in public. And if you show up at work drunk there may very well be consequences both legally and to your employment history. I think we can both agree there are few things more pitiful or heartbreaking than a drunk 15 year old.

But I would not deny anyone the sheer luxury of ONE perfect single malt scotch on the rocks every other day or so, a lovely glass of Francis Ford Coppola’s 2017 merlot, or a couple frosty bottles of Yuengling beer on a hot Florida afternoon.

In general, I feel the same about pot. I know an army ranger, a veteran of 3 or 4 tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, who was so riddled with PTSD and rage that he could not function. The VA put him on drugs that turned him into a zombie. A kind VA doctor told him to throw the drugs out and buy some pot and take a couple hits off a joint very early in the morning before he went to work. I never saw him have a problem again.

I attempted the same regimen for my skeletal-muscular disabilities, and it works, and I don’t get high. People drink to get drunk, and smoke pot to get high. Plain old drunks are the cause of so much tragedy, and recreational stoners deprive us of intellectual potential.

Recreational is the key word here. We don’t need another legal recreational drug right now. It’s a first world problem, and we’re living in the 2nd world right now best case scenario. We need clear heads.

Think I’m being a hypocrite? I haven’t been drunk in 17 years and I haven’t been stoned since 1982(been pretty mellow a few times, a testament to the potency of modern cannabis, because I most definitely don’t smoke large amounts).
