Heck no. It's an absolute joke that marijuana is not legal everywhere. No one dies of a marijuana overdose. Doesn't happen. It is far less harmful than alcohol and frankly a lot more fun. Sorry if my attempt at humor missed the mark.

The only thing DeSantis ever got right was pushing for full strength medical marijuana. Cheap and reliable. I still wouldn't vote for him for dogcatcher, but at least this one he got right. For all the wrong reasons, but I'll still take it.

The author of the article is stupid. Conway never said ANYTHING about marijuana ODs and She said the drug ODs has doubled and it has . Since 2015 gone from 48,000 OD deaths to 108,000 ODs deaths. The problem with encouraging the use of marijuana is it can lead to the use of more dangerous drugs. With Fentanyl that is made to look like legal pharmaceuticals now is not the time for anyone to encourage the recreational use of any kind of drugs. From the CDC

People who use marijuana and do go on to use other drugs (including alcohol and tobacco) may have a higher risk of dependence or addiction to those drugs, especially if they started using marijuana at an early age and use it frequently

And I got at least 3 good reasons to keep it illegal:

    1) Kids.

    2) Politicians. I suspect most, if not all of the green new dope deal was conceived by stoned jackasses.

    3) A skilled, sober and motivated labor force.

    Grow the fuck up.
    1) Kids will have no greater nor less access to marijuana than they already do.

    2) What does that even mean?

    3) If you wish for a sober and motivated work force, then alcohol must be banned first. Hardly any overdoses and severe hangovers with MJ.

    Marijuana is not risk free.

The high-potency cannabis that is now widely available may raise the risk of both psychosis and addiction, a report published Monday in The Lancet Psychiatry finds.

The potency of cannabis — measured by how much THC is found in the product — has been rising for nearly half a century, increasing by about 0.29% every year from 1970 to 2017, according to earlier research. THC is the chemical in cannabis responsible for its psychoactive effects.

“We know from animal studies that higher doses of THC are more likely to cause addiction than lower doses,” said the study’s lead author, Kat Petrilli, a doctoral student in the department of psychology at the University of Bath in the United Kingdom. “As people are exposed to higher doses of THC through the use of higher-potency cannabis, this may increase the likelihood that it can cause long-term changes, such as to cannabinoid receptors in the brain which are associated with psychosis risk.

So you admit we have a problem with alcohol but you want to add marijuana to the problem. That is just dumb.

Does Fetterman smoke pot? He had a stroke!

    Cannabis, heart disease and stroke

Emerging evidence shows an increased risk for heart disease and stroke from the effects of cannabis on blood pressure, inflammation of the blood vessels and cardiac arrhythmias1,2,3,4

Other reports link cannabis use with cardiovascular emergencies, including heart attack, arrhythmias, heart failure, stroke and cardiac arrest(cardiopulmonary arrest).5,6,7

Some research shows that long-term or excessive use of cannabis, increases the risk for heart disease and stroke.1,3,8

I hope the POS keeps on smoking pot!

Legalizing marijuana adds nothing to any of those three “problems”.

    From your article:

“Interestingly, a study published earlier this year in the Economic Journal found that the legalization of marijuana is actually contributing to lower crime rates in the United States and Mexico. Crimes, including robberies, murders and aggravate assaults have all dropped by around 13 percent in areas close to medical marijuana states. The logic is that since people living in these legal jurisdictions are now allowed to cultivate and buy marijuana through legal channels, there is no need for them to engage in dangerous black market activity.

But it is not the people living in legal states that are causing the problems – it’s the thugs from areas of prohibition that are coming in to take advantage of the situation, says Sonoma County Agricultural Commissioner Tony Linegar.”

Colorado's crime wave and marijuana policies

Coloradans' concerns about public safety are growing, and for good reason. Former District Attorneys George Brauchler and Mitch Morrissey recently pointed out startling increases in crime from 2011-2020: a 35% jump in violent crime, and a historic rise in property crimes.

A 2019 study of Colorado medical and recreational dispensaries found that both types of marijuana storefronts were associated with statistically significant increases in rates of neighborhood crime and disorder.

Another report estimated last year’s black market haul to be nearly $2 billion, compared to legal sales of approximately the same amount. Therefore, criminal elements are roughly half our entire state’s marijuana market.

More cartels and illegal growing operations have fueled the increases in violent crime.

The link with crime is not only on a societal level. Though our image of marijuana users may be associated with peace and love, we now know today’s highly potent marijuana—sometimes up to 99% potent versus the 5% THC of yesteryear — is increasingly linked to psychosis.

Other studies suggest marijuana use beginning earlier in life can, “…play a role in the emergence of violent behaviors.” While most individuals who consume marijuana will not become violent, these are scientific facts that must be considered by decision makers.

Alcohol intoxication for the most part IS illegal, at least in public. And if you show up at work drunk there may very well be consequences both legally and to your employment history. I think we can both agree there are few things more pitiful or heartbreaking than a drunk 15 year old.

But I would not deny anyone the sheer luxury of ONE perfect single malt scotch on the rocks every other day or so, a lovely glass of Francis Ford Coppola’s 2017 merlot, or a couple frosty bottles of Yuengling beer on a hot Florida afternoon.

In general, I feel the same about pot. I know an army ranger, a veteran of 3 or 4 tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, who was so riddled with PTSD and rage that he could not function. The VA put him on drugs that turned him into a zombie. A kind VA doctor told him to throw the drugs out and buy some pot and take a couple hits off a joint very early in the morning before he went to work. I never saw him have a problem again.

I attempted the same regimen for my skeletal-muscular disabilities, and it works, and I don’t get high. People drink to get drunk, and smoke pot to get high. Plain old drunks are the cause of so much tragedy, and recreational stoners deprive us of intellectual potential.

Recreational is the key word here. We don’t need another legal recreational drug right now. It’s a first world problem, and we’re living in the 2nd world right now best case scenario. We need clear heads.

Think I’m being a hypocrite? I haven’t been drunk in 17 years and I haven’t been stoned since 1982(been pretty mellow a few times, a testament to the potency of modern cannabis, because I most definitely don’t smoke large amounts).

That idiot fetterman should not be flying a marijuana flag without the word “medicinal” on it.
