Default College Football season is almost here!

Once again we are on the cusp of the college football season!!

Most of the preseason polls have the same top end.

    1) Alabama
    2) Ohio State
    3) Georgia
    4) Clemson
    5) Notre Dame

Notre Dame will drop soon, since they play Ohio State in the first game.

Alabama will be better this year. Same top offense, but I am hearing the defense will be a monster.

All sports media folks who vote on this shit obviously all live in the Eastern US.

Which western teams do you think should be in the top 5?

    Well, in the Southwest: Texas
    In the NW: Oregon
And sleeper.. I know this is going to come back and bite me, because I'm not even a fan, but WA State has had to overcome so much adversity over the past 2 years.. I think they're due.

Texas hasn't done anything worthy of being in the top 5 since they lost to Alabama at the end of the 2009 season. Coach Sarkesian is a good coach. They will come back. But there is no sign they are back to elite levels yet.

Oregon is ranked #11. I don't think they could beat any of the current top 5 teams.

Washington State? If they are due we will see it. But nothing so far has shown they are a top 5 team.

Look at Oregon moving up to #15. They fed BYU their lunch on Saturday! Texas won an easy one. And Washington State destroyed CO State on Saturday! My "sleepers" are awakening

I just posted the top 5 when I made this thread.

But to help those out west feel better, let me expand it.

    6) Texas A&M
    7) Utah
    8) Michigan
    9) Oklahoma
    10) Baylor
    11) Oregon
    12) Oklahoma State
    13) North Carolina
    14) USC

Hopefully this soothes those who claim a geographic bias.

Well, if Texas should go to Alabama and win their first game, they become TOP 10 and a MOVIE will be made!

    Probably not! Carry on!

Bama goes to Texas this Saturday. The best Texas can hope for is to not get blown out. But the players and fans chanting "We Want Bama" is not going to help.

I don't think anyone knows how Texas will play this year yet. They may not even reach the Top 25 status again this year.

However, a good ass-whooping by Alabama early on, may harden them up enough to be able to have a good year.

A few details to put fear in the hearts of Alabama's opponents this year.

The 2021 Heisman Trophy winner, Bryce Young, returns for another year. He has been working and getting better, and has a good stable of receivers.

But Bryce Young is not even the best player on the team. Will Anderson Jr is the best on the team. Last year he led the nation in sacks and tackles for loss, and by a decent margin. He will terrorize opposing QBs again this year. And, barring injury, will probably be the first defensive player taken in the 2023 NFL draft.

We’re over ranked but I’m looking forward to the season. It will be interesting to see if we can learn a new style of football.
