Clearly the markets do not think that inflation is a long term problem. I can still get a 30 year fixed rate mortgage at much less than 5%. If I have an interest rate of 4.2%, and inflation is at 9%, that is a huge discount on buying a home. Basically, I am getting the house at half the purchase price (adjusted for inflation) even considering the interest.Originally Posted by evince

Interest rates are low compared to the 80's, but twice as high as when the Fed was pushing housing.
Houses are still higher than they should be, but coming down when compared to the bubble caused by the trump virus.
And of course this is regional. NYC residents fled the city in droves, buying up every available home north of the city. It inflated prices, and created housing shortages.
That has calmed now that NYC doesn't look like a post nuclear mess.
Once in a while you get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right.
