First off, you got to be totally gullible or drunk on the Kool Aid to believe anything a pathological liar says
Second, if they believe Trump possessed documents pertinent to national security, files legally he was not suppose to have, and which his staff lied about and tried to hide, confiscating passports was relevant

There well could be an undisclosed order to confiscate his passport if he is deemed a flight risk and under prosecution.
He would know about it and be free to say, while nobody else would.
