There was this over the illegal census tampering.

Why can't Garland bring them back up? It appears Barr was hiding behind Executive Privilege, a debatable legal point. That doesn't make him a criminal....which may explain why Garland isn't filing charges.

This is a pretty solid proof the FBI and DoJ are now corrupt and political.

What possible reason does the FBI have to track down a member of Congress while traveling with his family on personal time, then demand he turn over to them his personal cellphone? They could have contacted his office or lawyer and requested this, but instead tracked him down and took it from him at a hotel.

That's the stuff of Third World petty dictatorships and corrupt governments who want to intimidate their political opponents.

Seriously? Because they expect he would erase the contents if notified. Just like they confronted John Eastman in Santa Fe and took his phone.

What exact contents are they so concerned about? There's also the issue here of the executive branch using law enforcement to go after the legislative branch... Eastman isn't a member of Congress.

No. Eastman wrote the memo for Trump to circulate. They could set up their own slate of electors. Also, that rejecting the official Electoral College vote would at least delay certifying the election.

The FBI works for the executive branch. Congress is an equal and separate branch of government. For instance, if Perry had told the FBI agents he was just on his way out to fly back to DC for congressional hearings or work, the FBI LEGALLY couldn't do a fucking thing but let him go. They couldn't arrest him. They couldn't take his phone. Nada, nothing, zip point shit.

In fact, simply taking his phone is questionable legally, because he's a member of Congress.

You think anything and everything is just fine and okay for the FBI, DoJ, Jan 6 committee to do so long as it furthers your political goals and positions. That's the sort of shit Third World dictatorships do.

All US citizens are subject to law. It's that simple. The DOJ should be doing this work.

You have no clue what you are talking about. The law gives legislative immunity to members of Congress. The executive branch cannot use law enforcement for political purposes. What felony--and it would take a felony--did Perry commit and get charged with that would allow confiscation of his personal cell phone?
