You know, the last time gas prices rose over $1/gal. in a few months the media was screaming about it, egging on the public outcry and blaming the WH. All we see now is a blurb here, a minor column there, and a few oped cartoons. Where is the media outrage now?

You know, the last time gas prices rose over $1/gal. in a few months the media was screaming about it, egging on the public outcry and blaming the WH. All we see now is a blurb here, a minor column there, and a few oped cartoons. Where is the media outrage now?

I don't recall the media "blaming the WH," and yeah, when it went over $4 a gallon for the 1st time ever, it was a big deal, so it was a big media story. I'm starting to see more stories about the rising costs as they (guess what) keep getting higher.

I hardly see the intense bias that you seem to imply with regard to this topic.

That's pretty funny. You give a bunch of links showing that the Democrats, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Carl Levin, the public and Citizens Action New York (not the media) blame Bush for high gas prices and finish it off with this article:

WASHINGTON - President Bush on Tuesday halted until fall the purchase of crude oil for the government’s emergency reserve. The move came as political pressure intensified on him to do something about gasoline prices, which are expected to remain high throughout the summer.

Bush said the nation’s strategic petroleum reserve had enough fuel to guard against any major supply disruption over the next few months.

“So, by deferring deposits until the fall, we’ll leave a little more oil on the market. Every little bit helps,” he said.

Wholesale gasoline futures prices for June delivery dropped 8 cents a gallon to $2.10 on the New York Mercantile Exchange immediately upon Bush’s remarks.

Which seems to suggest that Bush Administration policies did in fact have an impact on gas prices.

Of course you don't see any bias - because you agree with the bias. And if you do not remember the media blaming the WH (specifically, Bush, Bush's war, Bush's lack of government controls, etc. etc. etc. then you have some exceptionally selective recall going on. Either that or you were living in a cave in inner Mongolia at the time.

As far as going over $4.00 - yes it was the first time. Every day was a "first time". Guess what, when yesterday's price set a record, and the next day is higher, well gee whiz, Wally, that is a record, too. That is what was so focused about the media's blitz on the topic of gas prices. Day after day after day "New Record" headlines. Except NORMALLY when a record is set by a continual rise, the actual record is noted at the peak of the rise, not at every point along the way. But the media does like to sensationalize - except when sensationalizing goes against their political bias (like now.)

I hope it keeps going up. Gas is too low right now. It was awesome when it was 5 bucks and no traffic. I could get to work with the quickness. Seriously.

the sad thing is that we will not work on any alternatives or serious reduction in useage until the cost really hurts.

We are a spoiled and lazy society. And we will pay the price for that for many years.
