Default A majority of Americans believe the government is corrupt

    https://reason.com/2022/07/25/most-a...ecessary-soon/

    only 56% ?

this shit needs to get fixed and pronto...

Another sign of growing discontent in America? A new poll from the University of Chicago's Institute of Politics finds a majority of Americans think the government is corrupt and stacked against them.To probably no one's surprise, 73 percent of poll respondents who identify as "strong Republican" respondents agreed with the statement that the government is "corrupt and rigged against everyday people like me." But Republicans are far from alone in this sentiment. Fifty-one percent of "very liberal" voters agreed with the same statement.

Overall, 56 percent of survey respondents said that the government is corrupt. This included 66 percent of all Republican respondents, 63 percent of independents, and 46 percent of Democrats.
The survey of 1,000 registered voters found that a significant number of people expect that extreme measures may be necessary to protect against government overreach. 28 percent of respondents agreed with the statement that "it may be necessary at some point soon for citizens to take up arms against the government." Thirty-six percent of Republicans, 35 percent of independents, and 20 percent of Democrats agreed.
"Those who vote decide nothing. Those who count the vote decide everything." Joseph Stalin
The USA has lost WWIV to China with no other weapons but China Virus and some cash to buy democrats.

Almost seems like you could get a 100% affirmative response to this question, maybe based on how it's asked, although it might be for very different reasons people are saying yes.

Trust in government began falling in the mid 1960's. See chart:

My thought was someone could say gov't is corrupt because they're violating my rights by trying to take away my guns while someone else could say they think gov't is corrupt because it caters too and protects the rich. Let's say these folks are on the opposite end of the political spectrum. So same response but for very different reasons.

Agreed, but it shows declining trust among Americans (for whatever reason). 9-11 caused a temporary increase in trust.

And then look at how profoundly we were betrayed....Iraq rapidly sped up the end of the US as a Superpower.....it was at best insanely stupid...at worst it was the result of treason.
I choose my own words like the Americans of olden times........before this dystopia arrived.

And yet the some Democrats tell me to believe whatever the government tells me and therefore kids need to wear masks in school in some cities STILL... In-frickin'sane...

Remember when the protesters told us that government couldn't be trusted? Then they got old and told us to triple mask because Fauci said so.
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.

Believe nothing on the faith of traditions, even though they have been held in honor for many generations and in diverse places. Do not believe a thing because many people speak of it. Do not believe on the faith of the sages of the past. Do not believe what you yourself have imagined, persuading yourself that a God inspires you. Believe nothing on the sole authority of your masters and priests. After examination, believe what you yourself have tested and found to be reasonable, and conform your conduct thereto.

I reached adulthood in the sixties. We never said to not trust government. We sought to take it over and run it properly.
Libertarians, the polite word for Anarchists, don't believe in government. They believe in freedom from social responsibility.

Democrats are just as distrusting, they just distrust different forces--corporations, military, Republicans, whether they trust government is based on what agency and who is running it.

IT is stupid for anyone to pretend its all or nothing, some government is corrupt, some is not. It does not change the reality of facts and data.
