Default Trump 2024 run could upend midterms – and deflect risk of prosecution

Speculation is swirling in the US media that Donald Trump is considering announcing a 2024 presidential run as early as this summer and in the face of ever more damaging revelations from a congressional investigation of his role in the January 6 attack on the Capitol.

Irrespective of Trump’s chances of winning a second term, another presidential campaign under consideration – as reported by the New York Times, CBS and other US outlets – could give the former president a multi-year shield to deflect the attention of prosecutors.

Default Trump told allies he's considering announcing 2024 presidential bid early

Former President Donald Trump has privately told allies and aides in recent days that he is seriously considering announcing a 2024 presidential run as early as this summer, CBS News has learned.

Trump's latest exploration of a political comeback and a potential summer announcement of another presidential campaign was first reported by The New York Times.

Even as Trump moves closer to a 2024 run, his deliberations remain fluid. No final decision has been made on whether to run and, if so, when to launch such a bid, according to three people close to Trump who requested anonymity in order to share details on private conversations. Spokespeople for Trump did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Sunday.

I truly hope he does because, IMO, he'll blow up the Party of Trump causing it to implode.

    Hoping so on all accounts

Wouldn’t it be great to see a GOP primary with Trump involved in 2024? With every State Trump lost immediately start screaming election fraud and put the others who believe it existed in 2020 to appease him on the defense?

If he announces this early it might be an attempt to discourage any Republican challengers from announcing their candidacy.
