    But actually, the first time I really was inspired by geology was a trip in 1983 to a limestone quarry in western Maryland. The bloody thing was chock full of perfectly preserved brachiopod and crinoid fossils from the Carboniferous Age, about 250 million years before present.

    so Michigan has the Petosky stone named after the city of Petosky.......the Charlevoix stone named after Charlevoix.....the Leland Blue named after Leland.....the Superior Agate named after Lake Superior, the Two Hearted Agate named after the Two Hearted River......the Puddingstone.....and even Fordite from paint drippings from the auto industry......what does your state have.......
