Default This isnít just Ukraineís war. Itís our war, too.- Max Boot

We keep thinking itís their war.
We should understand that this is our war ó and act accordingly.

Russia didnít just attack one country. It attacked the very foundation of the rules-based international order the United States and its allies have been building since 1945.
If Russia gets away with its aggression, that will send a signal to dictators around the world that they can do what they want and that the West is too weak to stop them.
Look for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to set his sights on the NATO-member Baltic republics, which, like Ukraine, were part of the Russian Empire at various times in history.
Look for China to set its sights on Taiwan. An attack on either the Baltics or Taiwan would be likely to draw the United States into a conflict that could easily spiral into World War III.

The best way to keep the peace is to help Ukraine throw back the Russian invaders with devastating losses. That would send a powerful message not only to Putin but also to every tinhorn dictator on the planet: Donít mess with the West. But thatís not what we are doing.
We are providing the Ukrainians with just enough weaponry to avoid defeat ó but not enough to win. The Ukrainians are outgunned 10 to 1 in artillery in the critical battle being fought in the eastern Donbas region. Thatís unacceptable.

We would not be so stingy if U.S. troops were on the front lines. According to Brown Universityís Costs of War Project, since Sept. 11, 2001, the United States has spent more than $3 trillion on the war on terror, which encompassed the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. (That doesnít count trillions more for veteransí care and homeland defense.) Thatís an average of $12 billion every month for almost 21 years.

By comparison, since the Russian invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24, the United States has committed only $5.6 billion in security assistance, with the latest tranche of $1 billion announced last week. Thatís an awful lot of money if measured by foreign aid, but itís a pittance compared to what we spend on our own wars. If this had been a U.S. conflict, we might have spent $48 billion or more since February.

Thatís nearly an order of magnitude difference, which helps explain why our aid packages fall so short of what the Ukrainians are requesting. A top aide to President Volodymyr Zelensky says that to achieve ďheavy weapons parityĒ with the invaders, Ukraine needs 1,000 155mm howitzers, 300 multiple-launch rocket systems, 500 tanks, 2,000 armored vehicles and 1,000 drones. The United States has so far pledged 126 155mm howitzers, four High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, 200 armored personnel vehicles and 121 Phoenix Ghost drones. Our allies have made some critical contributions of their own but, taken together, itís not enough........................ (more and more demands at link)

almost all of this is Boot's braying for more and more. He doesn't seem to have a saturation point.
Just throw everything we have at Russia..because,,,well you know it "sends a message"
how many times have we heard that one over the years?

I cut out most of the OP's wish list, but here's how he ends the plea for more

The Biden administration and its defenders have many excuses for not doing more.
We don’t want to be drawn into a war with Russia.
meaning damn the Putin and and his hypersonic rockets..
We are in this war to win it - at any cost including Russian conflicts- stop making excuses

Our failure to help Ukraine militarily will be a major chapter in history's accounts of our republic's end.

    send a powerful message
the best way to send a powerful message is that even if Ukraine collapses we keep Russia sealed off from international commerce until they fix everything they broke in Ukraine and leave Crimea.......

what "failure" ???? do you have any clues just how much top of the line hardware and intelligence coordination we provide. Do you want us on the ground as well? Might as well be honest about it then-
since surely this is "our" war ,and the USA is paying more then 1/2 the freight of weapons, and food programs, and humanitarian needs supplied

Bet you didn't know all those high tech rocketry and artillery pieces from the USA bought you a
    brand new war huh?
At least Boot has the gumption of talking up front about it instead of hiding behind Ukraine as a proxy

There is nothing more irrelevant to the Unites States than Ukraine and Russia.

If we were to attempt to directly confront the Russians then there wouldn't be any historic accounts . You war-mongers are incredibly stupid and a threat to us all.
