That's what makes him interesting....he's not just a parrot for the left or right wing.

As for the jokes, 75 to 80% funny to me.
Bill Mahr is really a conservative Democrat that knows how to make common sense the hero and Hypocrisy, Fake News, Conspiracy Theory, and misinformation, and the misinformed the CLOWNS!

He pulls no punches in going after those in his own party that makes us easy targets for criticism amongst ourselves and our political adversaries on the other side of the aisle.

He has a way of making us laugh at ourselves when his satire hits homeplate- I DON'T CARE WHAT SIDE OF THE AISLE YOU ARE ON!

It's satire, of course, when he is telling jokes during his stand up routines, but off the cuff, he does make a lot of just good common sense!

It's a tough job! But since George Carlin died, and Jon Stewart retired, SOMEBODY HAS TO DO IT!

To let things go as you suggest would definitely lead to some type of angst upon puberty...let alone acclimation to a society where the vast majority are self identified by their physical/biological gender. Like it or not, parents can't push what is not there.

My point is that you can't just blur everything into a gray area where one can merely call it as they see it and never be wrong. If a kid is going to grow up to be gay or whatever, that will come out eventually. Nothing in life is 100% pain free or easy. Trying to make it such is part of the problem. You are right in that there is no easy solution to developing a happy and well rounded person no matter what the sexual identity is. Demonization and denial is not the answer, but neither is over-reacting in promotion of a perception.

grooming children into genital mutilation also never helps.

we are a sexually dimorphic species. live with it.
"grooming" implies purposeful intent .... which is NOT what Maher (or I) is saying.

And no, despite all the rumination a'la' Plato and such, biologically we are men and women....emotional and mental sexuality is a whole other smoke. That's the basis of the OP point.

So you're ignorant of the subject matter to the degree shown that you can't debate the issue rationally. No sense in wasting more time on you. Back on the ignore list..

As the OP states, Maher has a tendency to piss both sides off. His desire to combine humor with issues often makes him sound like a moron. Politically Incorrect was great. Real Time started off ok, and for about 10 years I can't watch him. New Rules is good for a chuckle a lot of the time.

In this instance, he has valid points...especially from a California point of view. He just values the jokes more than the discussion of the issue.

Yea. Back then it was more about the issues. Then he got a little full of himself and the jokes took precedent.

When HBO picked him up it was a big F.U to network t.v. for him. His 9/11 humor didn't go over well with them.

Agree for the most part. He's always chasing the punch line now.

Some comics murder the bit though. His anti religion stance isn't unique, but he goes a little overboard with Religulous.

His foundation always has merit, though.
