Default Interesting thing I did not know about buying a ranch...

If you are buying a house with more than 10 acres you need to contact a special insurance agency. Most Homeowners Insurance Agencies will not cover more than 10 acres.

    Ugh....

Would this be considered a "first world problem"?
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.
    - -- Aristotle

Believe nothing on the faith of traditions, even though they have been held in honor for many generations and in diverse places. Do not believe a thing because many people speak of it. Do not believe on the faith of the sages of the past. Do not believe what you yourself have imagined, persuading yourself that a God inspires you. Believe nothing on the sole authority of your masters and priests. After examination, believe what you yourself have tested and found to be reasonable, and conform your conduct thereto.
    - -- The Buddha

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.

Is that a Colorado thing? We have 12.4 acres and are insured by State Farm.

She's in Michigan. No special insurance here in FL.

It must be some kind of state thing.

Maybe so. Colorado is more likely to have ranches than we are, which I guess would include livestock that also needs to be insured.

probably because of the added liability from having parts of your ranch roll down and crush your neighbor's house.......

My friend doesn't take out any policies on his annual herd. It's a small herd of cracker cows, though.

It might be different if running 250+ pure Angus.

They use this stud bull, that thing has muscles on muscles on muscles. Looks like the Bugs Bunny bull with more muscles.

He's one of the nicest cows around, though. He's sweet as pie. Yearlings are what's dangerous.
