A good test of that rhetoric is to check WHERE kids go nuts. Is it places where people are "overly accommodating" to transgender people -- liberal states, for example?
Let's take teen suicide rates as a proxy for kids going nuts:

Turns out, using that measure, kids are going nuts at the highest rates in Alaska, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, and New Mexico. They're LEAST likely to go nuts in Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, California, and Maryland. The gap between the worst and best states is huge, too, with Alaskan teens over eight times as likely to kill themselves as Massachusetts teens. Eight out of the ten states with the most suicidal teens are red states, while eight out of the ten with the least suicidal teens are blue states. I'm not sure why "kids go nuts," but it sure doesn't seem to be liberalism driving it, does it? With Massachusetts having the least nutty kids in the country, we're going to have to look elsewhere for causes.
