Default Russia cuts gas supply to NATO applicant, Finland

Finland Says Gas Flows From Russia to Halt on Saturday

This comes two days after Finland and Sweden formally applied to join the NATO alliance, a decision spurred by Russia's invasion of Ukraine

Flows of Russian gas to neighboring Finland will stop on Saturday morning, Finnish state-owned gas wholesaler Gasum said in a statement on Friday.

"On the afternoon of Friday, May 20, Gazprom Export informed Gasum that natural gas supplies to Finland under Gasum's supply contract will be cut on Saturday 21 May at 04.00 (GMT)", Gasum said.

The Fins should have held a referendum.

No Nuclear Arms or NATO Bases on Finland's Soil, Prime Minister Says

Finland and Sweden formally apply to join NATO in light of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The decision, however, faces objections from Turkey

Finland does not want NATO to deploy nuclear weapons or set up military bases on its territory even if Finland becomes a member, the Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin told an Italian newspaper in an interview published on Thursday.

The next prime minister, of course, will have differing ideas.

    Bad move, Finland.

if we maximized our production we could pick up the slack and win an ally.

Russia plans new military bases to counter Nato

Kremlin's defence minister has also been reflecting on how the country will respond to the eastern expansion of Nato.

Russia will create new military bases in the west of the country to counter the strengthening of Nato near its borders, Sergei Shoigu says.

Finland and Sweden have both formally submitted applications to join Nato, a military alliance of 30 Western nations.

So unnecessary. A step closer to total war.

It would be a tad more expensive than coming through as existing supply system next door.

The Europeans are suffering from massive fuel price increases. In the UK vast numbers of people are having to choose between ' heat or eat ' already- and they were not dependent upon Russian gas. Others in Europe are. This might end up as a shot in NATO's own foot.

No- but when the Europeans see America making massive profits from fuel that used to be cheap from Russia- they're going to start asking what this war was all about.
Then the effluent connects with the rotor.

Poor Russia. They are going broke. They are using IC chips from stoves and washing machines in their weapons.

But it is not hurting Russia when they stop selling gas?

The west can find fuel in many other places that they can import. Russia can't import anything of value and can't purchase anything if they can't export.

There is this funny thing in UK called summer that starts in May and runs through October. No one has frozen to death during those months.

The summer doesn't require that you "heat or eat" since the temperature is warm enough that most people don't heat ever and those that do could use a silly thing called a sweater.

You have no old folks nor small children in your warm and well-fed life. Do you know the number of food banks already operating in England ?

As you live there, where's a good charity shop for a sweater ?

I thought you said they had to choose between food and heat. Now you are saying they don't have either?

People don't freeze to death when it's 13C.

Did anybody in Europe ever stop to think what might happen if a rabid dog like putin pulled a stunt like his little adventure in Ukraine? It’s not like he didn’t telegraph his punches with Georgia and Crimea. And it’s not like Trump didn’t nag NATO to increase their contributions and beef up their militaries. Did these people really really think vlad was gonna keep the tap open when he finally had his hissy fit?

And I just find it hysterical that everyone jumped into those ridiculous Paris climate accords AND THEN ACTUALLY STARTED DISMANTLING THEIR ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE!!! All except the damn russians, that is. They got Europe hooked on their cheap shit and now they’re gonna charge the premium for it, and the currency will be money AND blood.
