The Navy is so fucked.....they plan to scrap a bunch of boats that are almost brand new because they are useless shit, it is increasingly looking like the new carrier will never work, the shipyards are just completely fucked and no one in the swamp as the desire or the competence apparently to fix them, their officers are likely the worst in the military which is saying something.....

The Navy is not going to save us, put that thought out of your head.

2) The boats that were taken out of commission early were the littoral types (Independence and Freedom classes).

Why?
Because the Navy messed up with the class.
They designed a class to fight in 'small wars' (close to shore)...because they thought that was the future.
They were wrong.
Big deal.
The ships are just frigates anyway.
And they all work fine - they just are poorly armed for open-ocean combat.

Finally, the Navy is already addressing the problem with the new, Constellation Class frigates.

3) The U.S.S. Ford is doing alright.
It is in service.
The recovery system works fine.
The launching system has bugs...but they are getting fixed.

Every major navy is looking at Electromagnetic launching systems.
Because the system is a great one.
Unfortunately for the Ford - it was the guinea pig.
And - like all guinea pigs - it's had teething troubles.
Name me one, new, major weapons system that did NOT have teething troubles?
