If the president commented on every event where a single person was murdered, he'd be spending a whole lot of his time doing that. So, generally someone needs to kill more than one person at a time to show up on that radar. Ten murders, such as what the white supremacist did in Buffalo, is likely to get presidential mention, but a single isolated one isn't.
