Default Ukraine; Mariupol steel-works occupants have surrendered

The Ukrainian military says the defenders of Mariupol have ended their mission, after hundreds of soldiers left the Azovstal steel plant
More than 260 fighters were taken to Russian-controlled territory late on Monday

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/world-europe-61461805

Russia’s defence ministry said 265 Ukrainian fighters had surrendered at the besieged Azovstal steel plant in the Ukrainian port city of Mariupol.

More than 50 were heavily wounded, the ministry said, adding that those in need of medical care were transferred to a hospital in the town of Novoazovsk, east of Mariupol.

Russian authorities have released images of what it claims are wounded Ukrainian servicemen who left the steel plant and who are now in Russian custody.

They could have surrendered far sooner and saved many lives. That would have been worth glorifying.

I'll bet you JPP table-top heroes are really pissed that the Russians didn't execute them on the spot, eh ?

    Dumbasses.

The wounded have been taken to a hospital in the Donetsk People's Republic
That's the place that the Ukrainians started shelling in 2014.

Since you advocated Ukraine just surrender and submit from day one, I doubt you would understand.

In East Slavic cultural and historical tradition, heroism is critical to the nation's morale and self-identity. Tenacious and unrelenting defense in the face of bloodthirsty Invaders is held in the highest esteem and fuels the morale of the nation.

The defenders of Saint Petersburg ate rats and sawdust rather than submit to the Nazi invaders, and not only was their heroism a rallying cry for the Motherland, but they are still held in awe and reverence by their grandchildren and great grandchildren.

What you supporters of Ukrainian suicide fail to understand is that Russia was NEVER an existential threat to NATO whereas NATO IS an existential threat to Russia.
Nevertheless, NATO continued- and continues- to push ever closer to Russia regardless of the fact that Russia will commit EVERYTHING it has rather than suffer defeat- and conquest by NATO forces, real or imagined.
Putin literally spelled that out when he parked an army on his border with Ukraine and NATO ignored him . He literally said ' Give Russia security guarantees or Ukraine is toast '- and NATO ignored him- so don't come on with this ' Russia is to blame ' hogwash. NATO knew the risk of pushing but continued to push- and STILL continues to push. Article 5 is an invitation to nuclear war . NATO should have been dissolved along with the USSR- except some insane Western ' strategists' thought that they saw a route to world domination.
The next step is not a contest between Western hardware and Russian hardware on the proxy battleground of Ukraine. If NATO continues to push and looks like succeeding then the next step is tactical nukes. It's just OBVIOUS. Back off from threatening the Russians. That's the only sane possibility left.

If your nation is ever invaded, you are welcome to drop to your knees and grovel for mercy to the Invaders.

In Ukraine, Glory to Heroes isn't just an empty slogan. Heroism and resolute resistance is the organic matrix that fuels morale, enthusiasm, national identity.

That is why Russia is losing the war. They are demoralized and facing a tenacious and steadfast resistance from inspired defenders.

Fool. It's you that's in the pro-war, do-as-you're-told , 'glorious death is good ' bubble that sensible folk are trying to burst.

    Face it , you're still a club-wielding cave-dweller in someone else's uniform.

Russia claims 694 Ukrainian fighters surrendered at Azovstal in last 24 hours
Russia’s defence ministry has issued its latest operation briefing.

It says that a total of 959 combatants have surrendered from the Azovstal steel plant since Monday. It said that 694 Ukrainian fighters who had been under siege surrendered over the last 24 hours. Russia says that in total 80 of those who surrendered were wounded, of whom 51 have been taken to hospital.

In addition the Russians claim that they have killed 270 Ukrainian fighters and “54 units of military equipment were disabled” overnight. They also claim to have shot down two planes and 15 drones.

The claims have not been independently verified.

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/li...-soldiers-live

Whereas the Ukrainians blurt out incredible claims of victory, Russian cowardice and inefficiency daily- all of which is consumed whole by slaves of billionaire owners of the Western media - the Russians have issued few reports of events. Amidst all the tales of ' dead Russian generals ', ' revolution in Moscow ', ' massive Russian losses ' etc., etc., they just appear to be slowly consolidating their command of all of Ukraine's coast and closing off Zelensky's supplies of Western weaponry. However, Odessa is key- and they haven't taken it yet.
Sensible Ukrainians should unseat Zelensky , negotiate with the Russians and save that beautiful city.

Meanwhile, Zelensky is asking for his captured Nazis back. You couldn't make it up.

The fate of hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers who have ended weeks of resistance at the Azovstal steelworks in Mariupol remains unclear, after the fighters surrendered and were transferred to Russian-controlled territory.

Ukraine’s deputy defence minister said they would be swapped in a prisoner exchange, but some Russian officials said on Tuesday they could be tried and even executed. MPs in Russia’s State Duma said they would propose new laws that could derail prisoner exchanges of fighters who Moscow claims are “terrorists”.

Russian investigators have said they plan to interrogate the soldiers and could charge them with “crimes committed by the Ukrainian regime against the civilian population in south-east Ukraine”.

On Tuesday evening, seven buses carrying Ukrainian soldiers left the Azovstal plant in the port city and arrived at a former prison colony in the Russian-controlled town of Olenivka in Donetsk, Reuters reported.

So we have Ukraine trying Russians for war crimes and Russians trying Ukrainians for war crimes and a world full of voyeurs cheer-leading their choices of war criminals,.
Much of Ukraine is in ruins, international economies are disrupted, shortages are threatening millions of people and the world is headed full-pelt into a schism of nations which is more than likely to end in full-scale nuclear war.

And you STILL think that a CIA-led coup to overthrow Ukraine's elected pro-Russian president was a good idea.

Small wonder that I think you're not worth pissing on from a great height.

Russia claims total of 1,730 fighters have now surrendered from Azovstal
Russia’s defence ministry, according to their morning briefing on Telegram, has said 1,730 fighters have surrendered from Azovstal since Monday. That includes a further 771 who surrendered, they say, in the last 24 hours. 80 were wounded. The Russian defence ministry says “those in need of inpatient treatment receive assistance in medical institutions” in Novoazovsk and Donetsk.

The International Committee for Red Cross has stated that it has now registered “hundreds” of Ukrainian POWs who left the Azovstal steel plant this week.
