The Democrat party's new members are far, far, far worse than their old members.
Far worse radical, far left, Democrat Socialists who hate America and our institutions.
What Biden and Pelosi still cannot come to grips with, is that the Republican party is a far-right party, increasingly closer to the extreme right than the radical right. A recent poll showed that nearly half of all Republicans agree with the so-called great replacement theory, a racist conspiracy theory mainly propagated by the Fox News host Tucker Carlson, but with a decades-long past in far-right Europe. And while the theory might be new (to the US), the racist sentiments are not.

They do need younger leadership, better candidates, in fact, Washington as a whole needs younger leadership

It's already too late. The old guard of the Democrat party, much like the old Communists of the Soviet Union, are loathe to give up a nickel's worth of their power and control to a new generation. They'll take it to the grave before that happens. That should be obvious to anyone observing them.
Remember when they were trying to pass Obamacare and wheeled Senator Robert Byrd in on a hospital gurney just before he died to vote for it? They're all going to go that way.

Quite a bit different. The GOP is more like days of the week. There's no one group in charge. You have RINO's, the Trumpsers, the TEAPartiers, etc., that all fight with each other over what to do. That's why the Republicans can't get shit done. The only thing that unites them is being against the Progressive Left of the Democrat party.
Trump's out of power atm, McConnell says squirrelly stuff nobody pays attention to. Like I said, no unity. The Left / Democrats are unified in what they want, the only problem they have is getting anybody other than the party faithful to buy into it. On their own, they don't have the votes / numbers to get stuff passed democratically. That's why they resort to the courts, executive orders, and other means of government by diktat and fiat.
