Give this a thought. I'm playing devil's advocate.
First, I haven't watched the trial and only read random comments about it on the internet. I have never seen Amber Heard in any movie but I've seen a lot of Johnny Depp movies. The consensus is that Johnny is miles above her in acting talent and all Amber has is a pretty face.
To me this shows that Depp's major acting talent extends to the courtroom also, and Heard's lesser acting talent is dismissed. We know this by all the snarky comments about her "fake crying," "messing up her lines" (meaning testimony), and the usual denigration of her looks. However, the opposite applies to Depp. When he shows distress it's real, when he claims not to remember things he's said and done the spectators are charmed, and of course his looks are always top-notch. "Depp in court" is the role of his lifetime, he's giving it all he's got and his courtroom persona is magnetic. OTOH Heard isn't performing any better in court than she does on the screen. Therefore this "proves" she has to be lying and is only trying to bring down a good man and get all she can from him.
They are both playing parts and Johnny is doing it better. That doesn't mean he's right and she's wrong, just that she has no magnetism and can't reach the spectators like Johnny can. Plus he brings tons of star power while she brings only her story. I've read some of the nasty things each did to the other and they seem pretty equal but Depp has the better acting chops to show himself as the victim. Both have drug and alcohol problems. One comment of Depp's stood out to me. He was asked about his movies other than the Pirates and he claimed he couldn't remember any of them except Alice in Wonderland... "I'm so pathetic when it comes to knowing what movies I've done," he stated on the stand while smiling. "I'm sorry. I just, I don't watch them. I feel better not watching them. What was the question again?" And that made everyone crack up.
If Depp can't remember any of his movies except one, after he's spent his whole life making movies, it's not a leap to say that he could also not remember the way he treated Amber when he was drunk and high. Heard also got drunk, high and mean but she hasn't made the same excuses for her memory. These two were a bad match from the beginning and they deserved each other.
People paying attention to this trial might want to consider that both Depp and Heard are playing parts in the courtroom, and Depp is the much better actor. And I do believe Heard about the assaults but unfortunately she doesn't have the talent to sway an audience like he does.

Here's an article for your daughter. Gamergate (harassment campaign.) This nasty conspiracy theory extends to many famous women, not just gamers.
Gamergate was a misogynistic online harassment campaign and a right-wing backlash against feminism and progressivism in video game culture, conducted using the hashtag "#Gamergate". Beginning in August 2014, Gamergate targeted women in the video game industry, most notably feminist media critic Anita Sarkeesian and game developers Zoë Quinn and Brianna Wu, among others. The harassment campaign included doxing, threats of rape, and death threats.

"Depp alleged that he was "shown a picture" of human fecal matter left on his side of the bed, presumably left by Heard, following a 2016 argument. At the time, a witness claimed it was meant as a practical joke."
"Alleged," "shown a picture," "presumably." That's a lot of qualifiers and also shows that Depp didn't see it in person.
