Default Elon Musk's Tesla is paying for employees to get abortions out of state

The policy came as states like Texas, where Tesla is now based, passed tighter abortion restrictions.
It puts Elon Musk at odds with his conservative fans as the Supreme Court looks likely to overturn Roe v. Wade.

    Other companies as well

“Amazon became the latest corporation to cover employees' travel costs to seek abortion care. The company told staff it would pay up to $4,000 in travel expenses annually for medical treatments including abortions, according to a message seen by Reuters. An Amazon spokesperson confirmed the nature of the Reuters report to CNN Business.
The company's announcement echoes similar moves by Citigroup, Yelp, Uber and Lyft to help employees bypass Republican-led efforts in several states to effectively ban abortion. And it comes just hours after a bombshell report by Politico indicated the Supreme Court is prepared to overturn Roe v. Wade.”

Musk will certainly piss off the religious right - he is not that, and If they are not pissed off, we are doing something wrong.

this is about judicial overreach and how the federal courts enacted laws that made no sense.

Women who have babies are a drain on corporations, it is not a shock to find them encouraging abortions.

In some/many liberal circles he is evil personified. The guy supports white supremacy, runs a racist company, is going to end democracy etc. Will this act put him back in their good graces?

I know Apple offers to freeze women's eggs as part of their benefits package. These top companies are in a battle for talent and benefits like this can potentially go a long way. And Hawkeye does bring up a good point, these businesses would just assume not have their (top) talent taking time off for pregnancies all things being equal.

It is worth noting that Microsoft will pay for two attempts of artificial insemination, at about $100,000 a pop here in Seattle according to one person....I have not verified the cost....but they pay all of it.
